With Google Inc., now with representation in Australia, does anyone know what search engines get the top Australian traffic from. The latest I can find is (2001):

The top five search engines used to search the web by Australians, in order of market share, include: Google (39.18%), Yahoo (10.35%), Alta Vista (7.72%), NineMSN (5.30%), and Anzwers (3.62%). Australian based Webwombat is the 12th most popular Australian search engine used by Australians (0.95%) (Source: Nielsen//NetRatings August 2001).

Are there any more recent references? I have been searching?

Hi microdoc

I suggest trying Nua Surveys (http://www.nua.com/surveys/index.cgi?f=VS&art_id=905358476&rel=true) or Hitwise (http://www.hitwise.com.au) or Red Sheriff (http://www.redsheriff.com)

Thanks. That is a good help.

That has brought me to figures for Oct 2002 from Nua Surveys. Still looking for something in 2003.

Seems that there is something to hide here in Australia as to how these large sites are travelling.

My feeling is that Microsoft/NineMSN is protective of the local Internet lead they have built. What is not clear is how many people transfer into searching the Internet from NineMSN as opposed to using its portal services.

What are the directories that are aimed at the Aussie and Kiwi markets big or small.

Please not search engines added to any recommend lists.
