I've been having some problems finding a topic for my thesis. I was wondering if anyone can suggest one related to search engines. Btw, I'm a Computer science student.
Thanks in advance!

Mmmmh....why not "Does popularity equal relevancy?"

Thanks for your reply. I really tried suggesting topics similar to this, and my adviser didn't approve.
Actually, I'm thinking something about whether there are weaknesses in the existing search engines. And what could they be? It's just that I'm not familiar with these so I cant formulate the thesis problem.

are there any search engines specialized in a certain area only?

some food for thougt:
"Indexing the invisible web"
"Does bigger index mean better results for users?"
"Geolocalisation and better search"
"Spam : improving filtering for a better search"
"The race for freshness"
"Indexing and sorting non html documents"

Perhaps you could tell us some more about your cursus and thesis, so that we can find other ideas?

Anything related to Computer Science is okay. It can be an algorithm that has a weakness, then maybe I can find some way to fix or modify this and come up with a better one.
