Let's see how long this takes :D
Compare the wording of this page on a competitors site at http://www.1above.co.uk/offer.htm
To the wording of this page on my site at http://www.makemetop.co.uk/free_offer.htm
Date of competitors page appears to be October 28th 2001 - mine (in Internet terms) for ever (well 2 years).
The person could at least have changed the wording a bit!
Oh well - what did they say about flattery?
Put in a 'phone call some hours ago - calling back (apparently).

Silly boys. I've gotta say they are taking copying to a bit of an extreme with this page, though www.1above.co.uk/placement.htm . Either that or I am seeing double.
Why would they do that. I don't understand the advantages, plus it doesn't exactly look good to any visitors.

Mails them the latest MazY book. "How to use colours that appeal, not remind people of wet, dull days." And when you read this, get rid of the tiny times new roman font at the bottom! Looks silly! Or have Times New Roman for the body text too.

BTW...did you happen to notice the ALT tag for their logo graphic?

Well - if we can't find someone else to copy - why not copy OURSELVES :D Shame to break a habit!
Bet you all like their spam title and alt tags! Found them on Google (now why doesn't that surprise me!) ;)

I think this comfortably fails both the spam & the ethics test.
Barry, their hosts have an abuse report e-mail address on this page:

One day, and maybe sooner than later, ALL web sites will finally figure out that it DOES NOT pay to be unethical or Spammy. There are tooooo many risks involved with online forums....... like THIS one, that can and will uncover you in a heartbeat.
It ain't worth it peoples. We will get you everytime. Might take awhile for some of you, but we WILL get you.
and NO, for those of you reading this and saying "another self-righteous group who think they are the spam police". NO buddy, not that at all. These forums are for education. We wish all web site owners the opportunity to see what truly goes on out there. That is the only reason. We do not care if a site is a competitor or not. I definitely could care less. I know I can stand on my own just fine.... thank you.
Don't go crying to me if your site is listed in here for being unethical..... cause it ain't my problem,.... it's YOURS. You created it.

They host with fasthosts ? Hmm...I've heard some pretty poor reports about them, too. But I digress. There is no need to use these kind of techniques to get high ranking. What value are you providing you visitors ? What value will you provide your clients' visitors if you do so.

I have heard the very same report about FashHosts too. Two friends of mine have stopped using them in the past twelve months, for example.
