I've recently posted in various threads that I thought the link: reporting on Google was broken.

I just noticed that the backlinks on the -cw datacenter are showing a ton of backlinks for my site now. Perhaps this is a sign of a dance, perhaps its just a fix in their backlink reporting. Either way, I'm glad to see it.

I get less backlinks with www-cw.google.com than with other google datacenters when using link: for my domain. I believe link: only shows backlinks with PR of 4 or more.

If I use "www.domain.com", which shows all backlinks regardless of PR, I get about the same number of backlinks from cw as I do from the other datacenters.

This makes me think that cw is using different values of PR for each web page than the other sites.

Using the Google Dance Tool, 8 datacenters are reporting 28 backlinks for my site. The -cw datacenter is currently reporting 131.

I'm seeing similar results for backlink checks on internal pages as well.

But, you are right Barry, it could be a new PR calculation as well. Interesting....

This supports the theory that Google is not done yet with the changes. Looking at sites and seeing greyed out bars or PR0's, etc, and the site still ranking on keyphrases supports this as well. And also showing no incoming links are still with good positions. :)

I also notice that the two new datacenters gv and gv2 show the same number for link: as that shown by cw.

However they have a lower total number of backlinks than all the rest. For the total number of backlinks, cw is very similar to the other 8 datacenters.

That's not what I'm seeing right now.

-cw and -in are both showing 142 ibls where the rest of the datacenters are showing 28. -cw definately is showing a lot of my links that disappeared from the link: listings during May/June.

For a site new in early May some strange things have happened.

For months the link: command showed no results and site was PR0. The site is still PR0 now.

The inurl: command listed every page of the site as well as several pages from other sites and directories (including an ODP clone, Joe Ant, and a Joe Ant clone) that linked to the site.

A few weeks back (or more?), the link: command started showing links from two other sites that linked to this one. Those links were in place very soon after the site originally went live. The link: command still didn't show any of the more recent links that I know exist out there. It didn't even show any of those that it already know about and had previously shown when using the inurl: command.

At least a week ago, the inurl: results changed such that only pages from the site itself were listed, and still remains that way.

In the last few days the link: command on cw and gv has suddenly started listing all of the internal pages of the site, and a link from the ODP from late May. It does not list the other links that it had been previously showing with either the inurl: or the link: command.

There has been an update of some sort but the data is still incomplete or broken.

I lose 2/3rds of my backlinks on CW, however my rankings in the serps remain unchanged. Looks like some sort of PR fix, which if is the case points to the fact that PR still means close to nothing.
