I noticed we're over a month now since the last google dance. Do you think Google is waiting for DMOZ to refresh their listings before dancing again? It's currently showing 8/14 as the last refresh.

Cheers.

No.

I do not believe that Google schedules their business around DMOZ.

BTW, they went somthing like 6 months without a DMOZ update before...

The ODP does not refresh its listings. There is no update cycle or publishing date. The way things used to be, any edit at the ODP showed in the public category a few minutes after the edit was done. Then there were server problems and upgrades and the public side was frozen from early June until late August.

However, the way that Google gets their update, is via the RDF dump that the ODP produces weekly. Google used to take this file about once per month and take about 6 weeks to get it online. They stopped doing that regularly at least 6 months ago.

The Google directory has not been updated for 6 months. However, the Google search results had a partial update about 2 months ago. New ODP categories and listings are showing in the search results (data about three months old) but this data is nowhere to be seen in the directory itself.

Ask Google what they are up to. No-one at the ODP knows.

The ODP public side now also works slightly differently. Public pages are only updated if over 4 days old compared to the edit side, and should never be more than 7 days old.

I have been in DMOZ for about 2months and google hasn't found that for back links. among a few others too. Would be nice to find timing for backlinks being updated.
