Hello Everyone

I just thought I would share this news with you.

Today I hit #2 in Google with my targeted keywords "Nomex Coveralls" with my site
www.coverallsale.com.
The site was spidered Oct 7, yesterday.
As far as I can see I have no back links and all I did was add a few new products to my site.

I went from page 4 a few months ago to page _________ then all the way up to #2.

Any comments would really be appreciated at this time as to why this may have happened.

Okay a few questions before I can make any comment.

1. When was the last time G crawled your page?
2. Was your "title" (which you currently have on your homepage) listed there when your homepage was last crawled?

Currently I find Google is very fast in indexing new pages and in finding new links. The cached copy is now also very timely. However the Toolbar PageRank and the link: calculation seem to be locked and show only old values.

I've noticed a pattern of Google listing new pages (possibly pages with significant changes) high in the SERPs shortly after spidering. This only lasts for a few days before the listing starts moving to a more stable position further down the SERPs.

Yeap Bernard,
i see the same pattern.
Could it be this is due to the estimated pagerank for new pages ?
Maybe their estimated pagerank is too high... lately, it's obvious that Google has problems with their Pagerank.

I've noticed this problem as well. We're stuck at 77 backlinks at the moment. A month ago we had 950+. I'm not real sure what's going on. The google dance tool is showing 300+. It's all very confusing. I wonder what they're doing over at Google...

These responses are great.

I just thought I would let you know that I did drop off of the #2 spot for "Nomex Coveralls" after a couple of weeks. My website then went into the black hole.

Last week I have again appeared at the top for "Nomex Coveralls" but this time in the #1 position.

I still have no back links.

Your thoughts as always is appreciated.

Google seems to be listing sites a lot quicker now as many of you have commented.

What about the 'de-listing' of extinct sites? I don't know if what I'm seeing is anomaly, but I've seen a number of sites that no longer exist still showing on the first pages of the results, still showing an old cache of the page, etc. However, the site has been taken down for more than a month now.

What's the normal pattern with such sites?

Just recently I contacted about 50 sites who were publishing an old email address as the contact point for someone. Many of the sites amended their page with the new details, whilst others removed the page from their site completely.

The amended pages were all re-indexed by Google within a few days, and found under new search terms. These pages also remained in the index for a few weeks when found under the old search terms (words that are no longer actually on the page now), before they dropped out. Some of these pages occasionally re-appear in the index under the old search terms but are marked as being a supplemental result.

Many pages that were simply removed from the sites in question, are still fully listed in the index under the old search terms after several months, and refuse to go away. Google did drop some of them a few days ago, but they seem to hang around a lot longer than changed pages.
