Wow - I am absolutely stoked. Yahoo! just added my new client's site to the category I suggested and did not change a word of my suggested description (2 sentences and 23 words long!).

It includes lots of lovely target keywords (all relevant of course!) so my client should rank well on those. Normally editors will change at least a couple of words of my descriptions but not this time - a personal best for me - Yay!! :D

Yes, that is very unusual. You must have caught an editor in a very good mood or one that needed to get to something else quickly and did not have time to do any editing. :)

Or perhaps it was my flirty comment in the submission comment field?:p

I'm sure that could have been it. She was probably a female so you never know.

Two sentences? Yahoo added your description with 2 sentences and didn't edit it? Wow...I wonder if this means something. Hmmmm....

Can you privately point me to the listing, Kal? I'm curious as to what it says.

Thanks!

Jill

good job

Any description writing advice for the rest of us? Occasionally editors leave a few of my keywords in my descriptions but they always manage to chop the descriptions down to about 5-10 words (10 words on a good day).

I make sure that any keywords used in the description are present in the body text (first para if possible). Most importantly, I make sure the description is relevant to the content and unbiased (i.e. doesn't say "the best" or "the biggest" etc).

I always check descriptions in the category I'm after and try to make mine use a few different keywords to theirs while still maintaining category relevancy.

I don't know if it helps, but I always say thanks to the site reviewer in the comment field, because I imagine it must be tedious wading through submission after submission.

Great job Kal

My experience has also been great with yahoo. My trick to get done with it is:
write a long juicy description targeting your relevant keywords. Make sure that you have this content in the first para of your site. And then....wait to get your description scissored.

Don’t loose hope...make a nice appeal, asking them politely to add the words giving them a valid reason, on the mail of the Biz Ex editor, and provide one or two examples of sites having the same keywords in their description. You may then be able to get at least the 85% of what you wrote and I guess not bad at all.

Its good to aim for high and miss it :)
