If you really have no backlinks, it may be temporary on Google. Work hard to get a link from a good site. Get into the major directories and you will be fine.

Yeah, I've already got some backlinks which Google hasn't found yet. I'm building them up.

Looks like Google dumped my whole site. Grrrr. Dammit! Find my backlinks.

Wait! Maybe not. I'm listed listed at number 2 and 3 for holland cell phone but nothing appears when I do a search for my domain.

What is a good way to get back links? Any good advice on how to approach sites for back links. I often get email from people requesting links, rather from a company which supposedly has a client who wants to trade links, but I've been suspicious about them. I also recently closed a guest book on a site because people were spamming it and hiding links to their site -- It so angered me, that I just closed the book.

There's lots of posts here on the subject of getting backlinks if you do a search.

I suspect that most here will say that one of the best ways is to personally seek out sites that will be of value to your sites visitors, and send them a personalized email showing that you have taken the time and effort to match your two sites up as being valuable to each other, and requesting a link (this is what I'd recommend to you).

With the above strategy you should have a fairly good return on your time and effort (there are even some posts in here that have specific text folks use in their link request emails, if memory serves), especially if you can show that your site will be a good resource for the site you're requesting a link from.

One other tip is to send the actual HTML code you wish the site to use as your link code, so that you ensure the link text includes your best keyphrases. They may or may not use it, but if they do, it's a good benefit.

Others will say that they just send the email (showing the same personalization and effort) stating that they have already added a link to the site in question in hopes that they will reciprocate.

Then there are those that will recommend hiring a link pop pro.

But if you search here, you'll find a lot more related info.
