hi,

i was wondering if one of you kind folks could help me, that has more experience of submitting using these methods than me!

i operate a site which may be classified as adult in nature.

i have submitted the site and 2 other pages thru inktomi in an effort to drive more traffic to my site.

the pages i submitted are
http://www.HadtoEdit.com
http://www.HadToEdit.com/pantyhose.htm
http://www.HadtoEdit.com/stockings.htm

i have used meta tags in the right places i believe, i have used image alt tags in places to describe the page in more detail, however i have not had any hits and my average page ranking is 58. could one of you kind people possibly take a look at it and tell me where i am going wrong and how i can improve the situation

much obliged

Welcome to the forums officegirl! :hi:

I did have to edit the urls as we have many members under 18 in here.

You can still answer questions, etc, as many times you do not need your url to get the basics.

I can tell you that meta tags mean very little to the search engines now. You do need to add much more content as the spiders cannot index images. Put your keyword phrases into the content. Content is Most important.

thanks for the information, sorry i'm new to this and didnt realise the wide age gaps, please accept my apologies.

if utilising keywords in my main text areas, should i conentrate on a word 'say secretary' for which my site is themed, many times or will the spider pick that up as spam, or should i try to get as many variables of that 1 leyword as possible in the text area.

should i keep to a set figure of keywords say 6 and use variables around those?

also i have been told that the title is the most important part of the page, is this true?

thx, sorry for being an idiot

Yes,, your title of the page is very important. You should research your keyword phrases at www.wordtracker.com to come up with your best ones.

Secretary...... is waaay to broad for you. wordtracker would help you with this.

Yes, whatever keyword phrases you target have to be in your content a number of times depending on how much content you put in. Density can vary from 5 to 10 percent or even higher or lower.

Welcome, Officegirl!

I think that trying to get any high rankings for a site that's adult in nature will probably be futile. You've got way to much competition. You'll probably need to focus your marketing/advertising efforts elsewhere, in my opinion.

:hi: OfficeGirl

I always thought for adult sites PPC was the way to go...

On the other hand, you said you submitted to Inktomi. If you chose the Paid Inclusion method, then you can just keep tweaking your pages and waiting for the 48hr reindex to see how those last tweaks affected your ranks.

thanks for the help everyone. its a real benefit. dont really want to throw the towel in yet though, i realise the competition is massive. but someone has to rank high on those engines....probably the bg boys i know, but what the heck...its worth a try

thx

PPC = Pay Per Click, like Overture, FindWhat, etc...

oh i see..

probably is the way to go but need a big budget i feel, i think click thru ratios are low on adult sites, because theres to many people along for the ride and not willing to pay for content
