This forum is where it all started - very very timidly :)

And that's when Gimpsy was still in Beta (testing , testing 1, 2, 3)!
So what happened in the first year? Too much to mention in this post (tempted as I may be) ;) We have always kept this forum readers abreast of every development and new feature at Gimpsy. The milestones are laid out nicely, and anyone who would go back and revisit the posts will get a good feel for the long and winding road we have traveled so far.
Nevertheless, this is too good of an opportunity to miss, so we'll take a quick look at some of the features that have earned us a reputation for friendliness and usefulness. Here are some highlights:
Gimpsy is a deceptively simple looking directory. We always favoured the 'functional' look and feel, but we also packed a lot of features under the funny looking hamster. For example:
Categorization of sites is related to the activity provided by them not the subject area. You just tell it what you want TO DO!
Highly sophisticated Natural Language query, including the recognition of plurals (yes, even the irregular ones!)
Filtering of results according to geographical relevance. Many categories also have highly tailored and specific filtering criteria.
Registered users can get a 'personal directory' built from their favorite sites
The most complete and evolved array of communication methods with users, including Live Help, automated email replies and a full fledged Customer Relations Management system.
Fully spider friendly. Thousands of pages indexed by all major search engines.
Among the very few remaining directories that allow site submission free of charge with no strings attached no need even to register!
For sites that want to be reviewed as soon as possible, the Promotion Option is reasonably priced (currently 30 USD) and includes a 90 day promotion to a top position in the directory.
The first and only directory to offer a partial refund if the site is rejected and a full refund if the decision is delayed beyond 72 hours.
The only directory to have a monthly auction for the first place in each category starting at just 5 USD (and no extra payment for clicks received).
So how shall we celebrate the First Anniversary - in style?
Well, we did create a very nice logo to start with (have a look here (http://www.gimpsy.com) ) but we wanted to give something to our users and site owners:
The Natural Language competition has been re-opened! It will run four times in November, with a first prize of 100 USD to be won by a randomly selected competitor in any of the four competitions. Obviously, there will be smaller prizes in each competition too! By taking part in all the competitions, you quadruple your chances to win the big prize!
The fee for the Promotion Option has been reduced to just 20 USD! Moreover if the suggested site is not accepted - you get ALL your money back!! In the event that we fail to reach a verdict within 72 hours as promised, you will ALSO get a Gimpsy T-shirt!
