I was consistently in the top ten for my main search term for the last six months. Page rank 5, I have over 2100 pages indexed and there has been no change to the backlinks. All of a sudden (yesterday I first noticed) I disappeared completely for my main search term although I am still indexed. I haven't made any substantial changes to the site for a long time - just added new pages every week or so.

My hosting company did change the DNS information and I received a new IP address. Other than that I cannot imagine what happened.

Any thoughts?

I don't know but it sort of *****

some people where saying that it might have something to do with having too many links with the same anchor text

this would seem possible since all the sites that i have that have vanished have a lot of links with key words in their anchor text

but i have a couple sites which every single link , and I mean everyone has the same specific key word in it and they are doing fine

My sites appaer for other search terms fine, of course they are the less competitive and less valuable ones are the ones that they are still ranked for

like "albany web design" instead of "new york web design"

Hi all : been away, working on websites, doing well.

Unaffected by all the cr*p that went on with G in the springtime, and I put it down to strict adherence to ethical methods.
Rankings slowly getting better, training my clients to be patient, because ethical optimisation is more durable : no quick results and subsequent disappearance.

So now this happens : a Google update that seems to have blown much of my work away. I use the same approach on all websites I work on, yet it seems that sites, not search terms, are being hit (or ignored), so that maybe 50% have just plain disappeared, while the rest seem unaffected.

I'm not a Google Dance watcher (haven't the time) but I'm not looking forward to tomorrow's calls from clients.

If the Google Dance is back (and I'd seriously hoped it had gone forever) it is causing some very choppy waves.

Here are my thoughts on the Google Florida Update!

I have seen many more backlinks added for websites I review in the last 12 hours. My own home page went up to PR6 too, so I feel good about that. It probably isn't as important for keyword ranking as it was before the Florida Update, but it must still be worth something.

Interesting. I noticed a drop on backlinks for three sites I track this morning. In the case of two of those, we had a significant rise around the beginning of the Florida update, and today's drop brought them down to a level only slightly above their pre-Florida level.

[added] I also notice that three other sites I track (including my own) went up today. So my trend is... no trend.

Some sites are starting to climb back higher rankings lost in the dance.

I had a page go from #2 to #63 to #17 and now today #3. Looks like they're coming back or bouncing. Only time will tell
