Welcome to the forums Donuts! :hi:
There is a source somewhere. I will try to find it. I do know that the meta tags mean very little now across the board. Your title tag is important to all. You CONtent is the very most important so you should concentrate on that.

Welcome to the Forums.
Danny Sullivan always has the best information on this. He updates it regularly.

Hi stumped, and welcome to the forums! :hi:
You've certainly come to the right place. I'll lead off by making two suggestions.
First, one of the best resources on meta keywords and description tags and other SEO criteria can be found on Advisors site: http://www.highrankings.com/articles.htm. You'll find great articles chock full of great and accurate info.
Next, in conjuction with the above, a great way to see in action how to, and not to use meta tags, is to view the source code of other sites that are in competition with you. Then, read up in these forums as much as you can on this subject, as well as any other SEO techniques you will need to know.
Good Luck!

:hi: and welcome....
I would also start off by doing keyword research to find which keywords to target...

If you want to use it, I have an online meta tag generator at my site that I've written. It's in JavaScript. Just put in your title, keywords, description and then click the button to generate the tags. You can then just copy them between the <HEAD></HEAD> tags on your site.
You don't need to use all of the tags my generator creates, they are all in there simply because many people still like to use full meta data on their sites.
The URL is http://announce.esubmit-it.com/meta.shtml
Hope this helps.

Thank you very much for all of your help. I don't know what the "source codes of the other sites" mean. I will check your site out Deborah. I'll look for more responses.

Hi Stumped,
I don't know what the "source codes of the other sites" mean When viewing a web page in your browser, in Internet Explorer click "View < Source" ... or in Netscape Navigator click "View < Page Source". This will show you the HTML code used to render the web page you are currently browsing.
Alternatively, you can right-click and choose "View Source" or "View Page Source".
And alternatively again, (in Netscape Navigator only) you can key in "Ctrl+U".
Hope this helps,
