Has anyone had success in getting people pulled from Looksmart? I am a nice guy but I checked the top two results in Looksmart and then did a Lookup only to find they are running off the same server with the same contact as the registrar. Also, they are serving up the same content.
Therefore I think it would be better if they only had one site listed!!
Thanks for any input.
PS, it only gets ugly when it starts to effect your bottom line!!

No, I never have with Looksmart. They do have many contact emails and forms on the site for various things. You could try that.

I did take a look at the Looksmart site but could not find any contact details, I was looking for a contact for the UK part of the system.
Anyhelp appreciated.

:hi: Glyn
The only contact info I could find for Loksmart UK was expsvc-uk@looksmart.net. I would try that email because that is the only one listed and is used for a number of problems, issues, etc...with Looksmart UK.
I would include in your email to them any Submit A Site guidelines that those 2 sites are breaking.
Good luck and let us know if that email works for reporting spam.

I don't think Looksmart Uk is too interested in dealing with spam..I emailed them about reporting spam and sites that break the Submit A site Guidelines and this was their response:
Hello
Thank you for your email.
I'm not sure why you'd want to report spam to us for, we are simply a search directory.
Feel free to report sites that break the submit a site guidelines to this email address.

Interesting, you'd think they would want to produce relevant results and keep a fresh directory...

Here is the reply I took:
"Our policy is to avoid adding content such as mirror sites, sites which forward to different URLs etc, plus sites with similar content. Although in this case it seems the content seems suitably different. Generally when a customer submits multiple sites to us for the same directory placement we will reject sites. Obviously this can be a fairly hard task to keep in check"
If I read between the lines then what you need to do is create a whopping database that pulls the content and wrap it into a different design.

I would prefer to focus my efforts on my one site rather than stoop to the level of competitors by submitting multiple sites of the same or similar content...and paying the submission fee each time...
my theory...what goes around comes around...if my competitors want to spam, I will have the last laugh...
besides Looksmart is not a popular place to search...how do your competitiors rank on MSN? They can pay the submission fee for multiple sites but if one site doesn't rank well, then none of them will (assuming they have similar content)....and other engines may pick up on their tactics and penalize them...

Glyn,
I have had innappropriate competitors removed from Looksmart by replying to the email they send you when you get listed showing your case number.
that is the good news, the bad news is even after they are removed from LS they stay in MSN.
