new Zeal tour

Hi there...I just joined your forum and I'm seriously impressed by the amount of detail on Zeal you can find here! And I work there, so I should know :)

The topics that seem to come up pretty frequently are the basic processes of how to join, how to get started adding sites, what kinds of sites are permissible, and how the whole thing fits into the LookSmart picture. Well, I know that the profile says "dude" in it, but that could be referring to a female as well. Besides, it makes no difference really because if she/he wanted to tell us either way, they would. I really do not care and am happy she/he signed up! :cool:

could've gone w/"ZealGuy," or "ThatGuyFromZeal.com" I guess, but they just don't have the same ring to 'em. just so everyone knows, though, I'll start including "zeal dude" in my sign-off.

OK, I hafta ask; this has been on my mind for a while.
Did LookSmart really “team up” with eZuLa? And if so, to what extent?
Also, can you tell us what LS’s official policy on eZuLa is? (I also wouldn’t mind hearing your personal opinion as well)

hmm...not really my realm of expertise, I'm afraid, since I spend my days on the Zeal side of things. I believe there was a press release out a few months back, but I don't know where things stand beyond that...sorry.

Yes. That is very troubling to me as well. I was going to call Looksmart and ask but have not found the time this week.

Looksmart does not know what they are truly doing to all web sites on the net if all of this is true. Very, very bad.

Not only that, but the courts have already given Kazaa so many days to cease their operations. Kazaa is what Ezula piggybacks on with it's scumware software.

If Looksmart has done this, it just might be byebye from me and from a gazillion other webmasters and sites out there. We will not put up with our content being manipulated and changed to put money in the pockets of a software comany WITHOUT our permission.

Looksmart better beware.

BTW surfcat, you should find out about this as if this is true, it will affect the Zeal directory just as much as it will Looksmart. LS owns Zeal. NO site will be submitted by MANY webmasters to either one if this is true.

MY content is MINE and not some scum software company's to do with as they wish.
