It often amazes me coming to new forums, Oh hi there yes im new here, Thanks very much for the welcome, as I was saying It often amazes me that so many people place so much time and effort trying to conform to a particular search engine's algorithm's and practices,

Isnt there any other search engines out there that people actually use, I for one get several thousand users every hour to our search engine. But my original thot was what if everyone only used this one search engine then would they not do as they do now and try to monopolize the SEO world and basically handcuff webmasters? Well they have to a certain extent handcuffed all website owners by marketing new tools such as adsense, to even further their profits.

Lets face it if you not listed in the top 100 results on any keyword nobody is gonna find your site. G**gle even so far as admits to this. How many of you will sift thru the endless results trying to find your site is in 102,332 position for widgets?

My point is this The big G is vulnerable and one day they will fail users, they have already failed most webmasters and have boosted profits. Use the littler search engines once in a while they might be the best thing for webmasters and owners. if your interested you can view our search engine at www.boolya.com

I look forward to your replies

Hmmm, Google has failed no one, possibly its users but they'll vote on that with their choice of engines to use. You are right Google is vulnerable and if you take AOL and Yahoo! out of the mix you're left with the 4 horseman:Google, Yahoo! (likely using Inktomi shortly), Msn (likely all Inktomi shortly), and AOL, the rest gets what's left;)

off-topic a little bit... you say yahoo would likely use inktomi.. why do you think this? and not one of there other purchases in particular alltheweb(which is my favourable peference, if yahoo is going to drop google next year) ?

msn.. do you think they will still use inktomi next year until msnbot is fully developed? even though Y! owns inktomi..

thanks,

Inky and MSN go way back as does Inktomi and Yahoo!, Inky was the provider before Google. Msn has also ran tests in europe and the pacific Rim using Inktomi results. Seen Hotbot lately it's got an all Inktomi setting (default) and not bad at all. IMO, when MSN is running without L$ its results should improve.

i know yahoo and ink go back a long way previous to the google relationship .. but if inktomi are the leading provider of yahoo next year, i don't think it will be beneficial for many webmasters and seo's that tend to play by the rules.

with the paid-for-listings via ineedhits, positiontech and what have you, there's alot of sites that will use this(they already do for high msn listings) to create highly targeted pages which are soley for placement in the search engine which uses ink data, these are pratically pages that are not connected to any of the site via navigation and or site structure which are soley just for the ink database.

makemetop commented a while ago, how Y! were trying to weed out these pages -- yet, i still for-see an ever-ending problem via these paid-for-listings feeds to ink with unlinked highly targeted doorway/gateway pages.

if next year, we have both yahoo & msn both using ink data, this in my book would not be good at all.

i have been recently looking into the results at alltheweb compared to altavista and inktomi, and i must say.. alltheweb results have proven to me to be more relevant than those other 2 se's i mentioned.

i'm only a little guy, at the end of the day money talks and bullshit walks, i'm sure Y! will probably go with ink data and msn will for a while til Msnbot is fully developed but i hope Y! will include a mixture of results which will feature there purchase (alltheweb) which i think has a lot of potential.

Look at Hotbot, then look at Google now. I know where I want to go, and it isn't Google. PFI is an application basically with somewhat limited capabilities. IMO, Inky has always liked the long documents feeds don't easily accomadate that due to the data. I suppose you could build some kind of content management thing for Feeds but............. expensive!

i'm going to post an example of these highly targeted unlinked doorway pages that currently feature on msn via inktomi..

term: search engine optimization consultant

spamming site: http://www.websitesoptimisationservicestoprankings.com/search_engine_optimization_consultant.htm

reason why its a spamming site:

this page is not in the structure and or navigation of the site thus it is hidden from the potential visitor to the site and is used solely for the search engine, inktomi.

how they do it?

they pay for a placement via ineedhits and or positiontech to this specific hidden page -- inktomi;slurp will only crawl this page they paid for and will index it within 48-72 hours.

why wont inktomi/yahoo be able to penalize this site?

over the past few years, there has been to many websites employing these pages.. i will hate to be the Y! spam team(if they have one) it will take years and alot of hard labour to filter out these pages, this will not happen anytime within the next few years if they still have this PFI.

just my 2cents here, i could probably post 1000+ of these pages under different search terms if i wanted:)

as far as im concerned inktomi has always been spammy friendly and i'm sure alot of people will agree with me here.

it will cost very little to create these pages, only a little bit of time, they will then submit these pages $30 per url wasnt it?, people will simply pay this because the ROI will be good with both Yahoo and Msn both using the same data next year, if they both go this way.

anybody have a contact email at yahoo?
i wouldn't mind pointing them to this thread if they care about there se results for next year, if we have people and other seo's that agree with me on this matter.
even if they read this, it will be good.. at least i will get my point across even if they don't take notice.
my point is --- use alltheweb not just solely inktomi.. LOL
or if you must, use a combination of atw/ink/alta/
just my 2cents, otherwise alot of search engines are just going to become more greedy and we will have a lot of good relevant sites not featuring simply because they have ethics and can not afford it!!
anyone agree with me out here or am i by myself

:(

My point is this The big G is vulnerable and one day they will fail users, they have already failed most webmasters and have boosted profits. There's not a lot of mileage in getting bitter and twisted about Big G - it's a well trodden road to nowheresville.

Look at the whole web - once someone come along that's better than Big G, everyone will jump ship. I quite like Google; it has more personailty than most others. But I owe them nothing (for that matter, they owe me nothing), and if a better one comes along , I'll be there, first in line.

Untill that day, however, I'm as loyal as loyal can be!

I speak as a web site manager and a searcher - once better does come, it'll be interesting to see which group jumps first - searchers loved Google long before SEOs jumped on board ... I suspect next time there's a market change, the SEOs will see it coming!Use the littler search engines once in a while they might be the best thing for webmasters and owners.
How can the littler search engines be better? Unless they deliver better results and more customers, then how can they be the best thing for anyone?

in terms of traffic, that's it.. no one can compare to google in terms of targeted traffic if your website is ranking highly.

it has built up a reputation over the past 2 years as the best and most relevant search engine -- and if you were well and truly involved in the research of how google ranks websites generally it's been easy to learn there basic algorithm.. until this 'florida update'

i mean after xmas, things could be back to the same.. as just before the update .. if i remeber correctly they had a crap update in nov last year, just before the silly season.

if google continues with this algorithm, thats why i want to start to learn what Y! and Msn, have planned for next year.. because i can see both Y! and Msn, delivering more traffic and much more market share than this year.

even now, in Australia.. i hear Y! advertising alot on the radio so i can already see there getting lined up for a big onslaught into the search market in the new year.

I see I have created a bit of interest on this topic, Thats a good thing intelegent conversation about the topic, you dont see that too often on other boards, But I digress,

I will try and follow where the topic has lead, I firmly beleive being a search engine owner, coder, ect, That some of you have touched on an idea or fact that MSNbot will be the next big google crusher, I have a personal opinion on this as well not that I am Implying any insider information, ( Hence The Boolya Search Site) but Mr.Gates and his team have developed what I think is the Google killer, If most of you have noticed a change in your hotmail format, which is just the first stage in the change, keep your eye's open for the search themes to change shortly as well, When the Microsoft search is launched My company, and myself will be there right beside them, Google taught everyone a few lessons,

1. Microsoft did have a vulnerability.

2. Word of mouth marketing is still the best form.

3. Simple is better.

Where google went wrong is the adsense program, Here is a little thot for you all to ponder. Think baseball and the anti trust laws on this one.

Google allows millions of sites to provide google ad's lets assume out of these sites google yanks 1% of these sites and sends them the Google letter stating your ad program has been deactivated without cause after these sites have generated say $150.00 a piece for that month, If you just do the math on what G is reaping in benefits from this program and in turn ruining relationships with webmasters using these dirty handed methods. These webmasters will use the old WORD OF MOUTH and band together to get onto the next big thing which is either BOOLYA.com or MR.Gates.

I think enough lawsuits against the Big G will be enough to knock it down to where it belongs. I have and know of a few sites this has actually happened too, and they had even alott more than 150.00 built up, and were these webmasters ever pissed.

Welcome to the forums boolya! :hi:

Is your engine strictly PPC?

Tooo bad if it is. :)

Ihelpyou Admin:

Actually no Boolya is not a PPC at all, The premise we work on is trying to provide 100% relevant results to a limited number of sites that want to be listed in the ever popular top 5 pages or top 100 results we all cherish so much, for a small fee be it either 3 months or 1 year that position is reserved for that website for that time frame. an example

Keyword "Jewelery"

position 1 on page 1 of results would have

company XXXXXXX
description XXXXXXX
url XXXXXXXXX

and that position would be thers for whatever time frame they wished. And going by the latest numbers at overture "Jewelry" was searched there 504619 times so if you were to take into account that many searchs and even if you received 25% of those searchs click thru that would garner you around 125,000 clicks to your site lets use these numbers over a 1 year campaign 125,000 x 12 = 1,500,000 clicks for the year at $149.99 if it were a CPC it would cost you 0.0000999 per click not a bad price compared to any other search that is charging a minimum of .05cents per click.

But overall the answer is No we are not a PPC search. We are striving for 100% relevant results by paid submission process.

There are two sides to search - the web side ... and the search side. You have to please both. Your site may (or may not) appeal to SEOs, but there's nothing (except rigged results) for searchers.

Now, you might get rich on that, though probably not. But please don't tell me that what you are doing is "Better than Google". Because it isn't. You aren't even competing. Are you?

3. Don't rig search results

Nobody here is planning on getting rich utilizing our method, We are not rigging results, And whats with the advice dont have OO in your name, Have you ever tried to aquire a 6 character URL in this day and age, near impossible without having -123456789 ect in them Boolya was available and its a catchy name.

All the out of pocket expenses for hardware ect has come from one source, thats me, and if the announcement page had been read Boolya will be utilizing its own database as of Jan 31 2004 right now it is utilizing a 3rd party along with some of our results while the DB grows, Boolya results will superseed any 3rd party results. I have never indicated we would put google out of business, But there are alternative engines out there that will provide users with more targeted results for what they are searching for.

I disagree booyla. If all you are doing is accepting pages that "pay" you, no way will you ever be truly relevant to a user who searches at your site.

Ihelpyou:

In response, if a webmaster is targeting a certain keyword or phrase whatever it is there will never be a barrage of unrelated topics to disinterest the user, if you were to use the keyword "wedding rings" @ google you get 2,560,000 results

on the first page alone result 8 is for real estate
and traveling thru the further pages the results get even more watered down that disinterests a user when they cannot go to a site that is relevant to what they are searching for,

I am of the opinion that if i am looking for car parts then I want to be directed to sites that pertain to car parts not PORN, REAL ESTATE, or whatever the likes of Google places on those results pages. It is very annoying in my humble opinion.
