Following MSN's decision to end their relationship with LookSmart as of 15th January 2004, we have reached the conclusion that we will be unable to operate profitably in Europe next year. We have therefore decided to close our office in London in early 2004.

Quote from the front page of UK Directory (http://ukdirectory.co.uk/) UK Directory is pleased to announce that LookSmart UK, as part of their withdrawal from the UK market, has agreed to redirect their local search and directory users to UK Directory, who will now publish the LookSmart UK directory.
This seems to not only revive LookSmart UK but also UK Directory who have closed their online presence in the summer of 2002.

As this is my first post I want to thank UK Directory for putting GB on the Map! its great to see our homeland mentioned now and again.
The World Wide Web is massive and when I stumble upon new sites and places I have never been to before, I get a buzz when I see locals with items of interest on forums like these.
I have been searching for almost 3 weeks now to find sites that will give something away for free but its always the same old story...everybodywantsmoney!

If you can't find anything free in UK Directory, try UK Google - there's a few million there ;)

Hi ewm, welcome to the forums. :hi:
Are you aware that your website shows a blank, black page to folks like me with Javascript and Flash disabled?

Hi everybodywantsmoney :hi:
I think Bernard clicked on your www link which in my FireFox shows a balck page with a note at the top I need to install macromedia.
Your other link works fine (the one I copied and pasted from your post). I would suggest putting a link on the Flash version to the non Flash version and make it easy to see.
A lot of people don't like Flash.

Hi Alan :hi:

It appears you have an affiliate site that is simply copied from the "main" or owner's website. Not good my friend. No directory will list your site as long as you don't have your own site.

Hi Connie
Thanks for putting that Blue Link on there, I don't know how to do that, and you are light years ahead of me with regards to Flashing lights and stuff like that, simply because I don't know what you are talking about.
But thank you anyway.
Yes its an affiliate site and I have no problems getting it listed on any of the other sites, I have actually got about 11 sites to date which are all free, and the webmasters of them were more than helpful with me, I can't thank them enough.
I'm disabled Connie and I am trying very hard to get people to sign up to my affiliate site, as I am saving up to get a Spinal operation, the NHS system here in the UK is away to the dogs, so I want to get treated privately, my specialist has told me I need about £16K.
All the best and if you hear of anything by way of affiliate business opportunities that I can get involved in to make myself more money, please let me know.
I am motivating myself into action Connie, I don't want to be sitting at home on my backside doing nothing, I always have to be at something to earn a bob or two.
All the best for now.
Alan.

I'm not sure quite where disability comes into it, and I'm interested in your slagging off the NHS - which has an excellent reputation on spinal ops.
We all want to make a buck, but insulting people who try to help, and seeking that buck through ripping off the innocent is a matter of choice.
If you don't know that some people opt out of javascript and flash, that's fine. But don't ask a question then insult those who answer. Not cool.
Stop trolling, clean up your act, and be honest - then a few more people will happily help you.
