View Full Version : PLEASE HELP! Submitting multiple HTM files within the same DOMAIN NAME

I have submited my company web page last week as:
www.itecsonline.com
(which defaults to www.itecsonline.com/default.htm)
and am getting rankings within the top 5 (depending on the keyword utilized).
However, I have multiple HTM files in that domain that have their own unique set of META TAGS etc.
With Inktomi, can I submit multiple unique HTM files that are located in the same domain, and will they be treated as seperate database entries?
Example:
www.itecsonline.com/webdevelopment.htm
www.itecsonline.com/onlinemarketing.htm
www.itecsonline.com/onsitetechnicalsupport.htm
www.itecsonline.com/ITconsulting.htm
Thank you very much for your help..

Welcome to the forums ITecs! :hi:
If you are talking about just Inktomi, oh sure, you can submit as many pages as you wish as long as you pay for them.
You will have big trouble with that redirection when it comes to the other spiders like Googlebot. Your front page should be the index page.... the .com and not a regular page. This is important as the front page is usually the page in the directories which helps with PageRank and link pop. By redirecting, you are defeating the whole purpose.

Thanks for the reply, so basically with Inktomi I can submit multiple URL's within the same domain name without being penalized. But search engines such as google will only index the default htm file (which in my case is www.itecsonline.com/default.htm) right?
Thanks again for your help with this issue.

Great looking site! I normally do not like flash but yours is very well done!
Okay. I just viewed the page and it does Not redirect at all. That default.htm page must be the default root of your domain anyway, so you are just fine with all spiders.

Again, I am greatful for your advice and complements. I worked on itecsonline.com for over 4 months.. learned ultra dev and flash just to create ITecs. Anyhow, thanks again sir.. your help is much appreciated.

Thanks Doug. I've learnt much from some brief reading on my first visit.
Taking this point a little farther, if i only submit my home page will the spider not go through the rest of my site and cache the other pages anyway - including the different meta tags, etc.
If this is the case, how many levels will the spider reach.

Welcome to the forums ezeman! :hi:
Yes. Googlebot will crawl from the front page as long as you have good html text links on it. They work best. Then it depends on how well the rest of your site is linked up as to how deep she will crawl. The spider is aggressive so if you are linked up good, she will crawl just fine.

Sorry I might have asked the wrong way, I'm talking about Inktomi submissions.

Oh, if you pay to submit the front page only, that page is the only one that will get indexed. You pay for each page you want indexed.
Without paying, Ink will spider like Google but not as aggressive.

Thanks - thought $25 was a bit cheap for a whole site.
