In case this wasn't brought up yet, Zeal has changed their quizzes so they're not cumulative any more. That is, if you fail once, you can take the quiz again and if you pass it, you are in! You may remember earlier on that if you failed, they kept averaging your failed grade in with your passing grades, making it nearly impossible to get in until you took the quiz a zillion times!

Sounds like this is a change for the better!

That sounds so much nicer. Thanks for the heads up Jill.

For instance, if there's a very informative article on a commercial site, but the article is non-commercial in nature, you can submit it to the appropriate category.

There are certain rules to follow when creating the Titles for these pages, but it's all in the guidelines (which you have to be familiar with in order to pass the member quiz!).

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! I did it the hard way. And now you're telling me just any riff-raff with a pen and paper can get in? Time was I could say I'm a Zealot with an elitist pride...but not now

:) Just kidding. Sounds like a good idea to me, just wish i hadn't spent all of that sunday afternoon...

Yeah, no kidding! I can see how it would be very frustrating to have them suddenly change the rules after you had to work so hard! I can certainly understand the feeling that "I had to do it, so should they"!

But, yeah, it does make much more sense to do it the new way. The old way was awfully silly. I was lucky enough to know enough the first time around that I didn't have to deal with that. But I did hear the horror stories! How many times did it take you, Chris? Like 50? :green:

I wondered why that chappy from Zeal had suddenly gone quiet. Trapped in the riots :)

50! They promised they'd never tell!! :)

Truly...didn't count but 10-15 for the member test. (loads for the zealot one. Probably 20ish!)

But to be fair, it was worth it. Every site I submitted was and is accepted and because you know the exact description criteria they've never been changed...very nice. Worth it for the MSN traffic alone.

Now that they've changed the rules, I'll have to retake the Zealot quiz one of these days!

I am an "Originial Zealot" and have the shirt to prove it, but when the redid the whole thing, I refused to take the test over again. Give me a break. I passed once, don't you think I would pass again. Obviously not.

Glad you mentioned this - it's a really big deal (imho) because it makes passing the quizzes muuuuuch more straightforward. Those cumulative averages were a real pain, and I was glad to see 'em go...

I should also mention that there's now a tutorial for the member quiz that outlines some of the major rules you need to know. Makes it easier to check your answers, too: http://www.zeal.com/zeality/quiz_tutorial.jhtml

Sounds as though Zeal is now making the quiz too easy...

What is the point in having a tutorial for the quiz if everything is included in the guidelines?

Kinda like reading the Cliff Notes instead of the actual book...
