If you're on a windows platform you have a robust search engine program already. Look at the indexing service. Simple to implement especially if you have FrontPage. The only problem I've had with it is it lists "includes" in the results. I plan on indexing the dynamic pages into a separate directory using an internal spider. Then I'll just interface to that using the indexing service. You can exclude the directories you don't want indexed as well.
