Wasn't sure what forum to put this under so please move it to the appropriate thread.
I've just finished an online backlink manager program using a combination of php and java. Since I like you guys so much I'm giving away 20 free accounts reason being is that I do not have much free time and I need people to help test it and suggest new features to help make it the best program out there, there's a forum where the users can participate. DON'T sign up just to get a free account I do plan to maybe charge in the future but not to these first 20 signups, I may delete accounts if I found people not actively helping. So here it is:
backlinkmanager.com (http://backlinkmanager.com)
Hope you like it :nerd:

I guess not many people read in this thread? I thought I would have had more views and sign ups by now.

Hi Andrew, sorry it's the first time I've seen this post. Must have slipped me by :(
I've forwarded it on to the few people I know who manage the backlink side of things in the company I work for to evaluate.

Hi AndrewB,
I asked again for some feedback and this is what I got so far.
Oh, yes. Sorry.
I did register there, and I thought it quite a good thing. But I wondered if our links might not be part of a thievery of links. Wouldn't do much harm if it was perhaps, although it should't be done, of course.
I tried with a solitary link, and it seemed to work quite well. I was about to post a question to the designer on the matter of security - plus some encouragement. But I thought I'd first bring it to my *client* project master's attention.
He was not impressed and asked that I do not use it. Being that sort of obligiing geeza, I haven't since.
I'm getting in touch with the project manager to find out about the specifics but it seems that he is worried about link harvesting and won't risk the clients in finding out.

Thanks for the feedback much appreciated. I think this is stopping other people from signing up also as somone else mentioned this to me. I have now written a statement at the bottom of of the frontpage about privacy of the data. Other than this I'm not sure what else I can do to convince people this program is not some sort of scam? Any ideas anyone? :( What do other companies do in these types of situations?
I've even made the program free with no limit on the number of users now as I have a larger project coming. :D

Here's the response from the 'project manager':
I know the feeling.
I would be careful with this. It's got all markings of a 'link farm' management tool, and search engines hate them. And severely punish sites that use them.
I think there's more to loose than gain. I can already find all links pointing to me (and to my competitors) using 'Link Survey', and all newly added links by the 'Google (MSN, Altavista, etc) Alert' email (free) service. NetTracker will tell me 'referrers', so I know which links send me traffic too.
'nuff said.
I'm not sure how you can solve this perception problem.

I'm rather offended by is ignorant comments and I don't think I would want him using my program anyway. This is what I have stated on my site:
"The Backlink manager is not a tool to increase your link popularity. It does not search for link partners and send spam emails. The Backlink Manager keeps track of all your backlinks and provides information to make your own decisions with direction of your website."
He stated this:
"I would be careful with this. I know this too, if he read my features correctly and knew his SEO stuff thats not all what my program is about. Also the reason I provided a forum was to let users actively participate to request features etc What kind of a SPAMMER would setup a forum to help it's users all the while sending spam and using their data for other evil purposes behind their backs? Although it wouldn't suprise me if these types of scum exist.
Anyway thanks letting me know about this it's much appreciated but I hope not everyone is as ignorant as this they should read what the program does before thinking these things.
But if most people tend to think this first I'm really not sure how to convince them otherwise I would love to get more feedback from other ppl in here but it appears not many people read in the PHP forums. I really need to put this in the Google Forum. Over here everyone! :hi:

Don't take his opinion to heart as he is a bit retentive if you know what I mean. You would probably get more feedback if you used the 'Free help and advice' area of the forum.

Hi Andrew, I am going to try the thing out a little later. I am curious to know what it does, or more importantly, what it does not do. This could be something my link pop department could have a use for.

Hi Andrew,
You did a good job on the program. On the surface it appears to be very useful. We will be trying the features later today or tomorrow. Thank you.
