Says it all really! Pure Overture with Inktomi back-up. Another one bites the dust :(

Yep - I guess the realisation that even dot com companies have to make a profit to stay in business is reaching the Search engines also.

I'm tellin ya, people are going to get sick of seeing the same top 5 or so results at the top of all these search engines. Pretty soon they will cease to go to them to search. Wait n see.

Oh man...that's REALLY bad. No mention that these sites have paid to be there...no bid prices next to the listings. Anyone who doesn't know that Excite has changed hands (probably most of the general public doesn't know), will have no clue that these are all ads, not really search engine results.
A big HUGE shame on the new Excite owners! SHAME, SHAME, SHAME on YOU!

:steaming:
many use excite or have it as their home page...all those @home users...
I was doing work at my friends house and we installed his @home service on my laptop so I could run off his internet connection...by installing the software it automatically set my homepage to excite.com....and the IE 'search' function defaults to Excite....so needless to say, i had to reset my IE settings....
...but many people do not know any better...

I really hate Overture. I will miss Excite. It was another old familiar face like Infoseek. :balling:
