FYI, this is an example of our new page design that, quite by accident, makes Adsense ads more noticeable.

It's a very happy accident, RoySpencer. It looks to be an integral part of your site and I am sure will give higher CTR's. Congratulations. 8)

It fits in very nicely, but can I ask why you chose green? Is it your intention for it to fit graphically, but for the color to make it stand out from the rest of the page?

I'm just wondering what it would look like if you set the bg color of the ads to blue. I think it would look nicer, but it might lower your CTR.

Well, my partner likes nature colors, and I thought it was kind of pleasing, too. I agree it's a little unusual. The new design has resulted in a noticable increase in CTR.
Not to confuse things, but we just got our new logo from TheLogoFactory.com for our new domain name, and here's the latest draft page design:

Looks great on your page, so much so that I thought I would try a similar placement on one of my pages.

I previously had a "skyscraper" type display on the right of my page, which didn't attract much interest.

OK, it's early days, but placing the ad's near the top of the page does seem to catch the eye better and make the ads look like a part of the page rather than a "bolted on" extra and yes they are attracting far more interest and a better click through rate for me.

I only ever expected adsense to help subsidise the site, as it is fairly specialist with low visitor numbers, but previous adsense CTR's were hardly worth it.

Thanks for the tip it certainly looks like it has potential.
