Repetition of Keywords

Hi all! I'm trying to create general sites for all the se's - and am wondering how many times I can repeat key phrases in the metas and body text without spamming.....I have heard so many different views on this, I don't know which way is right. Any suggestions/advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!:)

Nowadays, most will simply make one page optimized for all the search engines. There is hardly any difference anymore in each one.

As far as your keyword tag. Very unimportant now. Google hardly notices it. But, don't repeat words more than 2-3 times. Only target a couple of keyword phrases per page. Remember that your keyword tag should only contain phrases that are actually on that particular page.

In the body, the keyword density varies greatly. I don't worry about it too much as some pages have 2-3% density of keywords and others have up to 12 or higher %.

If you read up in here, you will find many threads discussing all of this. We have some pretty sharp members in here. :)

My unscientific rule of thumb is that if I read the body text out loud and it sounds fine, then it is fine; if it sounds bad, it's probably spammy.
