Hi all,

Just this afternoon, I discovered my domain and email weren't functioning, and found that my host's website is out of service as well. To make matters worse, I don't seem to have a backup of my website and much of it was my own original writings (yeah, I know, I probably should have been better about backing this up but was not).

My host was Lenz Multimedia FYI, who came highly recommended by some members from this forum.

I had a look at WebHostingTalk Forums and came across this somewhat helpful thread. (http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=260260&highlight=Lenz+multimedia+lenzmultimedia)

Of course, I don't know if this will help me get any of my information back. I am so utterly depressed right now. :(

Any help or thoughts would be appreciated.

Yours,

Jocelyn

Hi Jocelyn, I'm sorry to hear about your problem. You were not alone though:

You might try researching the Wayback machine on Alexa or Google cache pages to get back the source to any pages that were indexed.

Thanks for that helpful tip, Bernard!

I did pull up most of my content from wayback, and the rest I owe to google's ingenious cache tool. Now that I have my articles back in my possession, I feel somewhat more relieved.

As for the rest of my site, I did happen to have all of the basic image files, pages, etc. for the most part, just need to set up movable type all over again and reconfigure the database after I find a new host.

And I'm not being too hasty on the new host, either. Once bitten, twice shy...all I can say is I'm shopping for service this time.

What a tough lesson I learned this time around. From now on, I plan to do regular backups, including backing up to CDs in case something should go wrong with my computer!

Great! I'm glad you were able to recover some of your data.
