Looks like a fairly new PPC engine. Wonder how many visits they get a day?

Nice and clean face. Anyone know anything about em?

Hi all:

Looks to me somthing like a cross between Google and GoTo but based in Australia.

Might be interesting if they have developed enough searchers to make it worth while.

The results look like they might be derived from Inktomi with a local tweak.

yea, results do look like Inktomi.

I dislike the fact that many PPC's have went to not distinquishing between the "paid" listings and the other listings.

Seems like a way to deceive. Wonder why they feel they have to do it that way?

Seems like it is brand new. Writeup is here:

Kind of far-fetched right now to say they want to compete with Yahoo and AltaVista....

Geez they're already taking bids for positioning. I can't submit for free?! Well that was my first, and last visit to their search engine. :D

Them austrailian SE's discriminate anyway. I stopped by one that said austrailian's are the only ones that can submit. So why was I able to find it from here in america?

Traffic volume will be the true test...I suppose they do stand a chance to compete with AV's traffic volume, but Yahoo would be another story. I imagine one might want to see traffic first, as with Goto their numbers are well established and available (http://www.top9.com/top99s/top99_search_engines.html).

Seems they have already run into a HUGE snag.

LOL!
In a bid to avoid a costly stoush with mighty US search engine Google.com, Lookle.com has altered the design and layout of its home page.

The "Mighty" US search engine. Geez the US is fear in all types of battles. Why's everyone so scared of us? :p

That site was an exact copy of Google... the results are not, but the look is. I am sure they knew it was going to be a problem, I just don't think they imagined that it would be this quick.

Well Google seems to be very active when it relates to search engine technology!~ They have a very good reason to protect their image, not only are they the leader, but more importantly they also have money!~ I suppose they no more like someone using their design, then they would for one to scrape their SERPs.!~

God Bless Google!
