Hi,

I am a small business owner (Dog & Cat related products) and have posted several questions here over the past year or so. This forum is always helpful for us.
I have a rather specific question regarding title tags:

I have optimized just about all of our pages for the specific item on that page, and have gotten some good results/rankings in the search engines for some of the terms. Unfortunately, many of these items are not searched on much, and so are not bringing in a lot of business. For example, according to Wordtracker, the term "Dachshund Jewelry" is not a term that gets researched much at all.

At the same time, the terms Dog Jewelry and Dog Breed Jewelry seem to get searched on quite a bit, and I have optimized our main Jewelry category page for those terms. My question is this...

I was thinking of using this title for the Dachshund Jewelry page:

"Dog Breed Jewelry: Dachshund Earrings, Necklaces, and Pendants."

What does everyone think of that title? My idea is that this title optimizes for the terms Dog Breed Jewelry, Dachshund Jewelry, Dachshund Earrings, and perhaps Dachshund Necklaces, and Dachshund Pendants. Because the term Dog Breed Jewelry is included in the title, perhaps it would up the chances of that page getting found.

Any opinions/suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, in advance, for your time.

Hi Scoot, Yes, your most important phrase is at the front.

You may be trying to target too many phrases on one page. I would cut down the title as it delutes the main phrases if too long.

I would actually make this the tag:

Dog Breed Jewelry: Dachshund Dog Jewelry

Thanks for your reply ihelpyou.

Very interesting. So you would include the word "dog" between "dachshund" and "jewelry" to optimize for the term "dog jewelry" also. Great suggestion! Thanks!

I have a couple of follow up questions:

1) I was thinking of cutting the on page words down to about 50 to 100 because of the very specific nature of the item. For details on the way the earrings are constructed, length of necklace chain, etc., I would direct them back to the main jewelry page with a link entitled "Dog Breed Jewelry" or perhaps "Dog Jewelry." That would allow for that optimized phrase to be in a link. Is that a good strategy?

2) Finally, I will probably use similar title tags on all the other dog breed jewelry pages (e.g. Dog Breed Jewelry: Chihuahua Dog Jewelry, Dog Breed Jewelry: Collie Dog Jewelry, etc.) The on page words would be similar also, except of course for the name of the dog breed. Will that be seen by the search engines as spam because of so many similar "Dog Breed Jewelry" pages? Or, might they decide to only list one page because they see the other pages as similar? My experience so far has been that they list all of the pages, but I have not had the same term "Dog Breed Jewelry" on the title of every page before either.

Sorry for the length of the questions. Thanks for your patience and replies.
