For those starting Overture accounts near the end of the month I discovered something interesting today. A new campaign was started on the 29th June for a client. This morning (1st Jul) I had an email saying only $1.30 had been spent in June on the account so Overture billed for the extra $18.70 minimum monthly spend fee.

The trouble is Overture don't tell you how much you spent on the previous day (30th) until midday the following day (1st) because their system hasn't been updated. So how do they know that you didn't hit the spend on the final day of the month?

Lo and behold when I check it tonight (after final day update) the account actually almost hit the minimum in June so they billed for an extra $15.50. Looks like Overture calculate the minimum spend fee for the month on the second to last day of the month before the final day has been calculated...

Ok this may sound picky for a small amount like $15, but for clients on low budgets it makes a difference. If they do this on a thousand accounts each month how much extra are they making for nothing?
