Hi

Other than Google are there any other free submissions out there, still?

I can't use DMOZ because all my links are affiliate ones.

Abertawe, no need to submit to major search egnines. Get few links from other web sites. Spiders will follow those links and find your web site.

Hi srikanthsh

The problem I have is trying to get those links from other sites.

Got any suggestions?

Affiliate sites...

Improve the web site struture and content. Get rid of spammy content and tricks(if there is anything like that). Then go for reciprocal linking with few good web sites(too much reciprocal linking is not that good).

And observe the scolding or comments(by our senior members) on my posting :D

no need to submit to major search egninesThis is quite right, and at first, link exchanges are a good place to start, in order to be sure the site gets spidered.

But directories are important, and many will take affiliate-type sites (though few will take clone sites, and there should be as much original copy as you can muster).

Google search for directories in your specialist area, then start looking for more general directories.

IMO it is much better to manually submit to 10 directories, adapting your application to suit each directory's focus, than use a 'free submission to 4,593 directories' that actually submits you to 47 directories, all in the wrong category, most with mangled description and omitted keywords. Oh, and your email address sold to 1,000,042 spammers!

Do read the ODP guidelines carefully; you may find the time investment in upgrading your site to fit will be time well spent - for example building a list of CDs into an interesting discography will please both visitors, ODP and Amazon. But that does depend on what you affiliate, and how you do it.

Hi Quadrille

Thanks for the reply. I read DMOZ T&C and they don't like affiliate links/sites.

I will though see if there is away around this.

Can you recommend any free directories, worth submitting to.

Many thanks for your help.

If you have good original unique content as the focus of your site, therefore providing a value to your sites visitors, along with your affiliate stuff, I know some directories will accept your site, so that is where I'd concentrate my efforts if I were in your shoes.

Without the unique content, this probably won't happen.

from my experience i can tell that submitting like crazy to tons of directories or worse to FFA pages won't get you results.

I have a number of 10 sites (good directories) that could help you start. You must have good content to be listed.

Pm me if you want the list
