Hi,

We are looking to recruit another full time SEO to join a team in London on a permanent contract basis. The salary is £15-16k...

Requirements:

An awareness of Internet information sources, search engine relevance ranking and page optimisation techniques is essential.

A good knowledge of HTML (preferably from scratch) and FTP software and a good eye for detail and spelling is also required.

Knowledge of ASP/VB scripting and JavaScript very useful.

Experience of web analysis tools, such as WebTrends and WebPosition is useful but not essential, as training will be provided. However, a willingness to learn new skills as and when they are required is considered essential.

If you are interested in this position please send an email to cassh@nri-ltd.com including your CV and answers to the following questions:

1. How much do I know about search engines?
2. How would I go about making a web site easy to find for a search engine?
3. At what level would I consider my knowledge of HTML to be, and how much do I know about browser compatibility?
4. How much programming experience do I have?
5. Am I willing to learn new programming skills?
6. What is the standard of my written English?

If the company doing the hiring is nri-ltd.com the first thing I'd tell them would is not actually a search engine thing ... make sure the domain name resolves properly whether or not the user types in the www. bit!

That is an appalling oversight for a company with internet ambitions!

Yes. Good point. There are some hosting companies out there where they do not allow you to resolve except when using www. I would stay away from those hosts. Many people simply type in the .com without the www included. All sites should come up both ways.

Oh, manwah, mention if the position is in-house or the employee could work from home.

When it comes to SEO, I would say all work can be done from home. You simply set some guidelines, etc. With the salary you have designated, this could be a good part time thing for another SEO somewhere. They could work from home and send you all the changed info and also keep in contact quite easily with the client. Come to think of it, but that's what we do anyway. :) Actually, you may be better off in simply outsourcing the SEO work to someone for a set fee for each site and then a set monthly fee for maintenance, monitoring, etc.

Doug,

As far as I know the post is inhouse. I believe the actual position/required knowledge/salary (as for all things) is pretty much open to negotiation.

I think the post has been put up on several job boards as well as in various forums, so although it says seo knowledge, it is open to anyone who wishes to pursue SEO further even if they only know the basics.

It's really not my call I'm afraid. If anyone is even vaguely interested then they're best off answering the advert, although unreasonable requests (e.g. 200% extra pay) will probably be 'filed' rather quickly. :)

hey, thanks for the added information!

Yes. Those in London or around the vicinity who may wish to join in all the fun of this SEO stuff should definitely inquire!

The salary is £15-16k...

I think my screen is broken. There seems to be one or two zeros missing from that figure. :D

yeah, I think he's talking about someone who wishes to get into the stuff on a training basis. Then, of course, after a period of time either get more money or go to another firm. It's probably just a starting point for anyone new who wants to learn.
