Here's a question then.

How may of you bother reading the "Agent-Strings" posted by Browsers and Bots that end up landing on your web sites ( and client sites )?

Who can tell me what this months Agent-String was for WebSearch.COM.AU for example?

First one to post the current Agent-Strings gets... erm... well.. ok, how about $10 worth of free Sponsored Listings on WebSearch.COM.AU then.. you can have a postcard from me in Sunny old Sydney even if you like ( and an ad in the automated emails confirming site submissions if you want, and space in the monthly newsletter, and .. heck, what do you want then ? ).

But seriously, do any of you ever read your Agent-Strings in web logs?
I wonder if you've seen any of mine?

There's a really great Australian web site where you can check out lots and lots of well logged and documented history on the topic in fact ( and see if you can find me * grin * ):

http://www.websearch.com.au/cgi-bin/search?q=robot+agent+strings

Click on the first result and check out the PGTS "Agent String Switchboard", well worth a read and tell 'em I sent ya and say hi!

Njoy, and remeber to "surf najed!" - and I always say, "Crawling, not browsing"!

Every post you make is all about you.

Please get off "you".

Please be a good member and help "others" with "their" questions. I truly don't want members who only pop in here to tout and make posts that are all about them.

Thanks.

oh.. ok.

well who shoudl I write about?

I don't own Google, Yahoo, etc [ yet * grin * ]..

So you're saying you want me to stop posting information about WebSearch.COM.AU or WebSearch.CO.NZ is that right?

If so, that's fine, I'll move on..

I thought there would be some interest in what I had to offer..

But to be honest you're probably right.. I keep posting info, updates, news, in depth info on how the engine works, the history, etc, I've had heaps of positive feedback from your members, but you seem to have an issue with it, and it's your forum and web site so I guess you have the last call.

Well thanks for your time and the space. I'm sorry you don't see any value in what I've been doing here.

I'll go back to searchenginewatch.

All the best with the forums Doug.

ps: thanks all of your who have chatted with me, it's been an honour and I just hope some of what I've done here has been of interest to you at least. Be sure to stay in touch and catch up with me some time over at jimworld and searchenginewatch.

The point Doug is making is the fact that you only ever post to promote your search engine/directory, rather than simply posting to answer a question from another member that is unrelated to your projects.

All of the Mods and most of the regulars have other projects or business interests that they could promote at every opportunity, but rarely do, prefering to allow their knowledge and experience to say far more about them.
