Came across a scrolling title tag here today:
http://www.schwalbe.cc

I've never seen this before. Given it is javascript, can I assume it will not be indexed? (keep in mind I am not a programmer so be kind!). The static title tag will still be indexed though, right?

What do you think of a scrolling title in terms of good design? Catchy? Effective? Annoying as hell? On first glance I found it annoying, but I must admit it does catch the eye, particularly when minimized and doing other things...

I seriously doubt the scrolling tag will be indexed. The static tag will be indexed instead.

As for my opinion on it, I hate it. I have seen them before. They are distracting to me. I am sure that most people don't even know that there are words on the top of the browsers and will never see it. It is just another toy for webmasters to play with. Kind of like something chasing your curser when you move it across a site.

The static tag should be indexed.

What a lovely default title you get when you try bookmarking that page - whatever portion of text happens to be displayed at the time. IMO bookmarks (i.e. favourites) are a good form of marketing and crafting a good title for bookmarking is worth doing. This trashes it!

The effect on the start bar is interesting.
