I think I'm losing heart.

During my usual quiet summer when my other business goes to sleep for a couple of months, I've been working away like crazy on affiliate marketing. I've built another content site, built a small portal, tried my hand with PPC...

All to no avail. I haven't even made a couple of hundred dollars in that time, despite working twelve hours days, five days a week minimum. And no, I'm not trying to promote Internet marketing products!

Anyone who thinks affiliate marketing is a get-rich quick scheme or easy money, take note from someone who knows: it isn't. Getting started is as tough as starting any small business - in fact, I've found it harder than I did starting my original offline business!

I can't seem to find any good keyword niches, can't seem to find any good merchants capable of converting, can't find PPC search engines that live up to their traffic promises.

I'm not used to putting in so much effort for so little reward, and I don't really see the point in carrying on.

Have the opportunities in affiliate marketing finally dried up?

Hi okey,

Sorry to hear about your bout with affiliate marketing. I am an outsder as I do not attempt it. I hear stories about how many make fortunes, but to me they are just stories, and I do not place much belief in them. I have always looked on them as making some one else a bunch of money. IMHO as a primary business they are not worth the effort. As a secondary purchase or secondary source of income I can see where they might be beneficial. Like any product if it is in demand with a limited number of suppliers at a fair price you have a chance as long as you can get it to market and are able to get it distibuted. Of course it does help if it is your product.
