Hi forum

First post here so be gentle.

Our site (http://www.eightpoint.co.uk) is in the process of a complete overhaul at the moment, please see previous site (http://print.eightpoint.co.uk) for how it used to look.

We will be looking at offering services to UK based businesses ranging from print and design to finance, to this end we will be looking at adding a directory to the site, can anyone advise me on the best way of achieving this will it be through scripts or should i partner up with an existing directory supplier with possibly joint revenue on any URL submission tools?

thx for the help

Welcome to the forums eightpoint! :hi:

Sorry I did not see your post earlier..... no one did. :(

Anyway, I don't know if there is a 'best' way to go about it. I think it's simply preference. Maybe some current directory owners can chime in here with more information.

Just that it was pretty conclusive mate. Not criticizing, i post occasionaly the same thing to a couple of different places...

I happen to have done quite a bit of testing of directory scripts is all, that threads a belter of a "directory scripts 101" kind of thing....

Perhaps someone else might add another script to the list though... my money would still go to gossamer though, it's the most well rounded, simple script i've tried :)

Building directories can be very time concuming. A lot of time needs to be spent working out a structure, and then seeding the categories with a starting float of good resources.

I have often through about partnering with other sites so spread the work load. You just need to be sure that the sites you work with are as interested as you, and they the data you produce will be usefull for all parties.

good point, I guess you must spend the time to make it usable, though I have to say it is not my top priority
