I am phasing out an old URL as I have a new one to replace it. The old URL resided on another site and I wanted it independent.

INK had my old URL in their database.

I used PositionTech for the add of the new URL.

Old: http://www.dollarhide.com/condo
New: http://www.destin-florida-condo-rental.com

The plan was to discontinue the old one when the new one reached high rankings in most SEs.

The new URL began to rise in the rankings on INK as I tweaked the page and then suddenly in the last couple of days it has completely disappeared.

The old one is still there.

PT still shows the new one active. But, it is dead, dead, dead on INK. The only way it show up is if you enter the full URL.

What's up here? Can this be fixed?

They are duplicate web sites. Ink does not want duplicates in their index. You can't have it both ways. Inktomi simply kept the old one that they had and deleted your new one. You need to delete the old one or give it entirely different content.

BTW, fixed your signature. It uses vbcode. :)

Explain this to me again. Was the old URL in PositionTech and you swapped it for the new one ? Or was the old URL in Inktomi already and you just added the new one via PT ?

If it's the latter, Doug is probably right. BTW, they haven't deleted your new URL, it just has very poor rankings (as a consequence of being a duplicate of the old one).

The latter. The old one was pre-"Pay for." Been in INK for a long time. All this new site stuff started with ODP changing cats, dropping me, new editor, yada, yada. I was very comfy b4. Just trying to get back there with this particular site.

So, I guess the next step is to pay for the inclusion of the old one in INK so I can then delete it from INK? I don't find any other reliable way to do it.
