So long neglected... no good.

Well, Search Engines

http://www.yandex.ru
http://www.rambler.ru
http://www.aport.ru
http://www.mail.ru/ (it's relatively new and powered by Google, but they are researching to add the Russian morphology analysis feature to Google results - that must be great when they gain experience and popularuty).
http://www.google.ru (the best one to search for Russian resources, IMHO, though the majority of my compatriots wouldn't agree with me :D)

Directories:

http://yaca.yandex.ru/ - this one has free and paid options, but you're better of if you pay :D

http://list.mail.ru/ - also free and paid options

Free directories:

http://top100.rambler.ru/
http://catalog.aport.ru/
http://www.ulitka.ru/
http://www.kinder.ru/
http://www.zabor.com/
http://www.diamondteam.ru/
http://www.refer.ru
http://www.mavicanet.ru/directory/rus/
http://all.eti.ru/
http://wwwalt.susanin.net/
http://www.bigli.ru/
http://www.ivlim.ru/
http://search.centre.ru/cgi-bin/search/index.htm - a directory with a search facility
http://www.optime.ru/
http://www.vsego.ru/
http://dir.userline.ru/
http://www.econsultant.ru/
http://kuzbass.com/
http://www.linkfinest.ru/
http://links.vov.ru/
http://studiodelphin.com/

There are a lot more, of course, and a lot of niche-specific things, as well. I'm going to update this thread from time to time.

It's great you list all the country-specific resources Doug!

What else would you like to have here? Forums, perhaps?

Thanks Irony.

Apart from Mavica, do any of those directories offer English versions? And even if they don't, do they list sites that are not in Russian?

I've got a couple of listings on Bulgarian directories, and even though I can't read them, I get some traffic from them.

Rambler and Aport clearly state that they won't accept the resources that have no Russian versions. Mail.ru contains a lot of various resources from all over the globe, many of them are in English, but you will have to browse to a most relevant category before you can add your URL. I'll find out about Yandex, but from what I see, they only list resources that have, at least, Russian versions.

Others are less popular, and as far as I can see, none of them offer English versions of a resource index or a submission interface.

Sorry :)

Yeah, that can be a problem if you're not multilingual, or if you don't know someone who can submit your sites for you... hint hint -- You might want to consider offering a service to non-Russian-speaking SEOs who want to get their sites listed on those Russian directories that allow sites with non-Russian content as long as they have Russian descriptions.

Those Bulgarian listings I've got were submitted by someone in Sofia who was grateful that I listed her site in my directory. If I didn't know the name of my site, I wouldn't even be able to make it out, since I only know a few Cyrillic letters.

Looks like they've used ODP as backfill, so there's plenty in there.

I'll try submitting and see how it goes.
