is there any data on the % of visitors who have font resized in their browsers? (ie, they have vision problems, so have their browser set to show text at a larger than normal size?)

thanks

Would be nice if the browser relayed that info to the web server for statistics and optimization purposes, but I don't believe any of them do. I know I have come across a few people that have changed the default text size in IE on accident and did not know how to change it back. Any % amounts though would probably be just guesses since I do not see any real way of determining this besides actually polling users.

i wonder if there are any polls available then...

I would suggest loki, that you ask this question in this (http://www.ihelpyouservices.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=152) forum as it may be an accessibility issue. Kalidust may have some figures (but I couldn't say for sure).

thanks blue.

btw do you know that 'blue' is (also) a coloquial term for an australian?

Yes. That's a tough one. He actually put it in places it's suppose to be. It's a tough call as to which one is best. I think he simply thought it best to put both places, but two threads of the same thing are not good. :)

Hi Loki (I see you :))

I reported the duplicate post, and then I noticed that Blue suggested that you should ask your question here.

I think the thing to do would be to move that thread into this part of the forum.

Loki, I'm looking into this and will report back either way.

LOL We have a thread in the staff room about which forum your post should be in. I thought I was replying to it, but obviously NOT. :D

Obviously! :D

Loki I see you too. Just don't know the answer to your question, regardless of which forum it is in. I would think with all the other kinds of studies that are done someone would have attempted to do one.

If you all don't see me for a while, that means I was beaten with a wet noodle by Blue (j/k) -- nah he wouldn't do that ;)

I remembered having a discussion with Kalidust on topics similar to this so I made the suggestion to ask in a forum she moderates and would be more likely to notice.

OTOH, someone 'out there' that reads the free forum may have had info as well.

So, IMO, the topic was applicable within either forum.

btw do you know that 'blue' is (also) a coloquial term for an australian?...and bluey is a Aussie slang term for a red head, male or female.

I would guess that the stats for this (if they were available) would vary a lot based on the audience of the site in question. Sites that cater specifically to groups of people who would need larger fonts (like AARP, for example) would probably see their fonts resized more than others.

I bet there'd be a way to track this sort of thing with a script.

It's possible to track it with a script when the script is invoked to increase the font size. But what do you do when the default font size is set to large by the user in their browser settings or in their user-defined CSS?

That would be tough... in fact, it would likely be impossible, since the user is only communicating with their browser application and not with the server hosting the site.

Of course, if you installed a bit of spyware...;)
