I know that Inktomi is a very important spider/database etc.
But for me it's like a body without a head. As far as I know, there are no phone numbers there you can call and ask questions, and the reuslts that come up for my site are random and inexplicable. My homepepage doesn't seem to come up, but obscure and unimportant internal pages and links to my site do.
Can others give me tips on how to maximize one's prescence with inktomi?
Do they have any customer releations you could call? Thanks! Ken

How did your web sites/pages get into Inktomi? thru Pain Inclusion, free submit?
If you submitted through Paid Inclusion, I would contact the company you went through (PositionTech, ineedhits, etc...)

hey Ken, no emails or phone calls will do anything for you. Plain o'l simple optimization is what you need to do. Tweak your code and content to move up in ranks. Read in here about how to do this. There are no magic bullets and there are no set ways of doing it as every site is different.

oh yes, regarding poor ranks, all you can do is tweak til you're happy with your rankings....

Ink. can be quite a challenge to optimise for, though. My advice is to assume that everything is incorporated into the algorithim, from file names, to body text, keywords, titles, description, domain name, alt. tags and so on. Try to start with a low keyword density but ensure that your pages are called keyword1-keyword2.html and all your image names reflect this also, see where you start off, then build up your keyword density in the body text slowly until start to rank well, then add some relevant keywords into the alt. tags. It takes a bit of time, but it is the most effective method I know to rank well on Inktomi engines.
