I was under the impression that the express submit was a two day thing... but it took a full week for my site to show up in search results for it's own name (not some competitive keyword - we're just talking about the company's name ;) ).
it finally is showing up on LS for the name but not on MSN or anywhere esle.
Is this normal? What should I have been expecting?
humbly yours

hey Sonora, express means you are excepted within 48 hours into the directory. Within about a week you will show up in Looksmart directory results. Within 2 to 3 or 4 weeks you will show up in MSN results.
Hope this helps.

any experience with their "looklistings?" how long do they take to get into MSN? do they show up in search results like regular listings? do they get a boost?
i'm trying to figure out the best way into LS & MSN... am i on the right track?

are you asking about the 'Site Promote' in the LookListings?

I'd say two days to get an acceptance is pretty express, but I guess 'express' is a relative term. Looksmart express submission is a bargain at $299.

hi jon - i wasn't whining about the two days for acceptance - i was whining ;) that it actually takes much longer than that to get into the index, and even longer to get into the partners. Acceptance alone doesn't bring traffic - indexing does. sorry for the confusion!
mssearch - yes - in my second post i was wondering if any one had experience with the site promote - what i thought was called "looklistings" - but since then i've spoken with a rep and have a better understanding.
I believe they use "looklistings" to refer to all of their paid submission/inclusion programs. With Express submit, you can submit up to 5 URL's for review to get them into the LS directory.
Then there's the Site Promote program - it's actually a ppc program, and it doesn't feed MSN. Instead, it feeds LS's Featured Listings and all of their partners - a bunch of ISP's, and I think she mentioned Mamma.com among others.
Anyone using these programs? If not, I think we might and I'll be happy to report back!

Well, you are limited to 200 clicks on your listing per month, which works out to .30 a click. It was not worth it to me but your mileage will vary from site to site.

LS has a Site Promote for $30/month for a URL. When I got their discount notice I tried it out on a couple sites ($15/URL/month). After 2 weeks I got an email saying:
"Congratulations! Our records indicate that your Web site is one of LookSmart's top traffic performers in the Site Promote service........Site Promote listings that have reached their monthly value limit are not shown in Featured Listings for the rest of that billing period. Instead, those listings appear only in the “Reviewed Web sites” section of the search results."
Sites need to be submitted to the directory before you can promote them further (so I know my site will appear in the reviewed Web Sites Section)...I thought this email they sent me was BS that they were not going to promote my site for the rest of the billing period unless I wanted to switch my site over to PPC...I paid for a service and then they pulled the rug out from under me halfway through one billing cycle...with no previous warning...
oh well...
