How big is Sensis(& BigPond) in Australia as a search facility.

Is it a Meta Search engine or can you submit to it, and is it for Aussie domains only.

I'm in Oz and have never heard of Sensis. Is it a directory owned by Telstra (BigPond)? What is the URL?

It's a SE not a directory (silly me) and you submit Australian only site Here (http://www.sensis.com.au/contact_us_submitSite.do?method=doDisplaySubmitSite)

Sensis has just started a big advertising push on Australian television and have also just started a massive Google Adwords campaign targeting alot of regional specific words related to Australia. (which they seem to have paused now, go figure, probably wasn't managed properly and realized it was costing them a bit too much. ;))

All our clients do well on Sensis, traffic has picked up and we are happy that there doing alot more advertising for there search engine.

There search engine ain't that bad for Australian's.

I wouldn't mind there advertising budget. :cool:

I think you would find that they brought out Looksmart Australia and there associated crawler or have developed there own. Have seen the sensis crawler on sites before.

All of there results are there own from the crawling they do themselves. :)

Yeah that is how I found them. I was looking for Looksmart.com.au. As Looksmart was originally out of Melbourne (I think) I thought it may still be going. Clearly not.

Where are they getting there results from both Oz and World. Did they buy out the Oz database from Looksmart.

We sell to customers in OZ, so find it slightly frustrating that we can not submit to them. We do offer a product to Aussies to buy.

Any ideas if they are going to go open?
