Hoorah, my site (seen in my profile link) has been indexed by google!

And it is ranked #1 for both searches I wanted it to show my site..

"Ultras UK"

"UK Ultras"

Both #1:)

Although, it's only my portal on a free server, I didn't actually make the portal myself, hence the ads.

If you type "ultrasuk" into google, my main site is #1 spot also, the only thing is I f****d it up by messing with the DNS so now there is no site on my domain. :(

Will really have to get that sorted out.

If anyone could help with it, I'd be grateful.

Anyways, I'm really pleased. Hopefully now I'll get alot more visitors. :)

Congrats, Jet.

If it's on a free server as you've said, how is it you were able to do anything with the DNS?

Most free servers AFAIK don't grant access to DNS.

Can you provide more details about this? If the DNS is indeed messed up, and you have access to it, I might be able to walk you through the corrections.

I know quite a bit about DNS, servers, etc.

Ah, if you could help me that'd be dandy:)

To be honest, I know next to nothing, about DNS:D

I bought the domain ultrasuk[dot]co[dot]uk and at the time, my host was at farvista.net I hosted my domain on farvista.net with the dns settings being dns1.farvista.net etc...

I'm with 123reg (UK Domain company)

I reset my DNS in 123reg to default, and cleared it from farvista.net so that my domain doesnt point to the site at farvista.net where it no longer is.

15 days or so after doing this now it's still (i think) trying to go to farvista.net server, but it shouldn't.

I've tried just forwarding the domain to my site location but it hasn't worked for some reason.

It's completely messed up!:(

Did you get a welcome e-mail from your new webhost?

If you did, there should be name server info in the welcome e-mail. Go to your domain name registrar and check where you have the name servers pointing to.

I don't know which registrar you use, but most have a setup in the login panel that will allow you to add/edit information with regard to where the name servers point.

After verifying if they're correct (and they are) that helps us to narrow down the issues a bit more.

If you've found that the name servers your domain is pointing to, is correct, then I'd like you to run a report on your domain at
http://dnsstuff.com/

This will give us an idea as to what the issue might be. It may be something from your webhost end that has nothing to do with anything you've done (e.g., a backend problem only they can fix).

I had one host before that forgot to set the "A" names in my dns (on his end) and for nearly a month my site was MIA. I paid for hosting and my domain to show up, and didn't even get that!

It can be frustrating sometimes, I know.

Yes it's frustrating, it's doing my nut in. I've got my new site ready and a domain to go with, that goes nowhere!

DNS Report says this..which may be important...

--------------------------------------

FAIL:

Missing nameservers 2

ERROR: One or more of the nameservers listed at the parent servers are not listed as NS records at your nameservers. The problem NS records are:
dns2.farvista.net.
dns1.farvista.net.

FAIL:

Lame nameservers

ERROR: You have one or more lame nameservers. These are nameservers that do NOT answer authoritatively for your domain. This is bad; for example, these nameservers may never get updated. The following nameservers are lame:
65.98.98.75
65.98.98.74

FAIL:

WWW Category

ERROR: I couldn't find any A records for www.ultrasuk.co.uk. If you want a website at www.ultrasuk.co.uk, you will need an A record for www.ultrasuk.co.uk. If you do not want a website at www.ultrasuk.co.uk, you can ignore this error.

---------------------------------------

I'm not really sure what all that means to be honest. For example, what does it mean by 'lamenameserver' ?

Savvy, do you have MSN? I'd appreciate it if we could talk over an IM client, as it would be a helluva lot easier.

It's up to you.

Thanks!

Hi Jet (it's ok to call me Deb :))

Yep. I have MSN. I'll need to switch over to Juno first before I can launch MSN. If I'm connected through AOL (like right now) MSN won't work.

lame name servers means that they're not assigned to your domain name. The missing A name in Authority is your current webhost.

Contact your current webhost and tell them they need to set the A name in your dns records from their server admin panel.

They should have WHM or Plesk or something to admin the server with.

If they're not understanding you, give them the link to dnsstuff.com and have them run the report.

If all else fails, you can always switch to another host.

Keep me updated on the progress. We'll get this sorted. :)

Jet it sounds to me like you have a hosting problem.

Contacted the company yesterday, just asked them to reset everything to standard.

Hopefully working within the next day or so.
