Looksmart Submit = Zeal Entry?

Hi guys - surfcat probably knows the answer to this one. I just had a client's site accepted into Looksmart using Express Submission. But within the acceptance email, there was a line that said "Add to Zeal" and the URL was listed. So it appears my client was also submitted to the appropriate Zeal category. It is already appearing in Zeal and my client is pretty happy :)

My question is: Does Looksmart Express Submission guarantee an entry in Zeal now or is it at the discretion of the reviewing editor? I've never seen this happen before, but I haven't submitted to Looksmart since December last year so perhaps it's a new thing?

Yes it does. The zeal listing is almost immediately and the LS listing will show in a few days. :)

But does anyone search at Zeal itself? Obviously it's claim to fame right now is that it gets you into LookSmart. I wonder how many people actually search at Zeal for info. I've never actually thought about doing so, but it might be a good place to find certain kinds of information.

No, they don't seem to as no referrals from them.

Kal, not sure but a little while ago. I never thought anything about it as Zeal does get you into LS, which is important but the other way around does not seem to be very important anyway. :)

oh, the 'add to Zeal' was recently, but the url has gotten into zeal when submitted to LS for awhile now. I guess I first noticed it in Nov-Dec. sometime.

I have tried searching at Zeal on a few occassions but it is so S L O W....just to see if sites were listed and how they got listed (paid vs. free, etc...)

As for Looksmart submissions, I always find my Express Submissions in Zeal before they are listed in Looksmart. I have even appealed descriptions and other changes before the site was even listed in Looksmart...just by finding the site in Zeal...and nipping it in the bud before MSN picked up the new Looksmart listing (not that it wouldn't eventually be fixed, but the sooner the better, right?)

But, to answer your question, every Looksmart submission is listed in Zeal...

hi all - just wanted to confirm what's been said by the experts - yep, all sites that go through Express/LookListings will appear on Zeal, and usually before they appear on LS. so if you want an advance look at your listing, it's not a bad idea to check Zeal...
