Just got this from Overture:

--------------------

Dear OvertureTM Advertiser:

Great news! Overture™ has extended its relationship with Yahoo! through the second quarter of 2002. This means you’ll continue to receive high volumes of targeted leads from this partner. Our success with Yahoo! is demonstrative of the highly-relevant product we provide the users of our affiliate partners.

We’re delighted with this extension and hope it translates to increased sales for your business.

--------------------

Hmmm. No wonder they were tying themselves up in knots over relevancy recently. Methinks perhaps the Yahoo relationship depends on it?

Oh yes. I also think they extended the MSN one as well. I'm sure what is happening with them is in direct response to certain demands some partners have.

We'll see how it all plays out but I have to say that those listings are slowly but surely starting to be ignored by the general public. Has taken time and will, but is sure to happen.

Yep, apparently Yahoo and MSN are finally making some bucks thanks to Overture.

Wonder how long it will take to deplete everyone's PPC account though! Won't the bids just keep going up and up and up until they are too high for many? I have wondered about that for awhile.

I was just checking my logs before I read this. I just noticed that I have been receiving a small number of hits, around 50 a day, from Overture. This has been going on for the last two weeks or so. What you ask is so surprising about this – Well I have never paid goto/Overture a dime – against my principals and the bottom line on the income statement.

When I last checked (over 4 months ago) the keywords I am currently getting hits from Overture on were costing about $0.35-$0.60 PC and the results were about as spam filled and non-relevant as I have ever seen.

IMO Overture and the rest of the PPC’s are on their way out. At least their old PPC business model is.:hit:

I get hits from Overture all the time (and have never had an account there). What you're seeing is probably hits from the Inktomi portion of Overture.
