I was wondering if there is a free script of sorts that is like similar to the one used on this website: Surprise.com (http://www.surprise.com) (sign in at the top right to see the script on action). I doubt it but do have to get this script/database developed and am looking for a programmer if it is not already developed as open source.

1. Loggin and password protected including forms to be filled:
a) First, Last Name b) Email Address c) Password d) checkbox for weekly gift updates.

2. Display Box for last gift added to Que. ***Once signed on the box would display the last gift that they had added to their sign-in name.

3. Add gift button on all products and the gift would be saved under their sign on name once logged in.
a)The customer would have a notes section to add any specifics they might want to ad at the time.
b) Customer can also sort their gifts from 1-25 or more according to their importance.

4.Internal Search Engine for inventory.

5. Occasion Reminders:- Customer can select a date that they would need to be reminded of gift and automatically be sent an email reminder to their email address. They can select a one day reminder, one week, or two week reminder.

6. Database that would store all products and description with prices and a "similar products" link to show products that are similar to the ones chosen.

If there is any open source database programs or scripts that may be able to help with with at least most of these features, I would be greatful to know where? If not, I will be looking to hire a programmer to do such work. Any response is appreciated.

suprise is running on asp.net BTW.

Just about every store catalogue/shopping cart code is capable of most of the first 4 and No 6 requirements or could be made to work.

No 5, There will probably be a module for some catalogues that allow for this or you could get one coded.

No idea which one would be suitable BTW. I prefer to code my own solutions.

Do you know of any storefront software that will be able to do all of these plus the additional module without the checkout system?

I do not need the shipping or checkout capabilities. I want this to only add the gifts to their list and be saved under their IDs.

Any idea of what direction I should go from here would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

To be honest I don't.
I haven't looked at shopping solutions in a long time, none of them came with what I needed or would have required far more work to adapt.
Some of course came with a hefty price tag as well.

OsCommerce is probably the best known open source one

or take a look at
Hotscripts ecommerce (http://www.hotscripts.com/PHP/Scripts_and_Programs/E-Commerce/Online_Catalogs/)

Thank you Christ Hirst and g1 for the valuable information. I am in the process of looking over which ones may be more suitable to my audience and myself.

These scripts seem to be invaluable to my operation. Thanks again.

I tried to find a shopping cart software that would do what I wanted it to do, but was unsuccessful. All of them have the shopping cart price and shipping included without just having a wish list with the features that are on the Surprise.com website.

I have looked everywhere within the last few days and tried out so many demos, but cannot find one that comes close to the script on Surprise.

If anyone else knows of a Wish List type shopping cart with ability to add your own affl. links within the title and description, please let me know.
