yea, heard about them awhile ago. Only time will tell if they will become a player.
Did a few searches with the relevancy not being that great. We'll just have to see.

hmm, just noticed they still have a title I had changed 3 months ago. They must not re-index very often. Not a good thing.

Hi Analog
Not much known about this new engine but here are a few snippets;
They are still in Beta with a public database of about 100 million pages listed, although they say they have a larger database internally, and are geared up to go as high as a billion pages with no loss in performance or relevancy. They may or may not continue as a public search engine, but it seems that they would prefer to sell their databases ala Inktomi
They have their own spiders, and have been spidering the web for some months now (my first log entry for Teoma was three months ago).
They have developed and are using their own pagerank like ranking algo, which differs in that they first cluster pages by topic and then analyze the links between the pages in the cluster to rank the sites. They also offer links to what they call expert sites at one side of the page, these are sites you can visit to find general information on the topic rather than an answer to a specific question.
Other than that they kind of remind me of the 1998 version of Google - and because of that they might bear watching.

The teoma robot seems to be very busy on my site over the last week or so but they are still using old page data..maybe they are getting closer to the money.
They are obviously tweajking the software as page rankings change and also new catergories keep appearing. Worth a look at once in a while. And I have a pet theory based on no evidence at all that by looking for my site on there it is getting entrenched so if the engine takes off I will beenfit.

Welcome to the forums drkioski! :hi:
You may have something there. Never thought about doing a search just for the engine to get use to returning your site. :)

Welcome drkioski!~ :hi:
I've tracked the Teoma robot in our logs as well this week, we'll keep our fingers crossed...one could only imagine a world with two Google-like search engines!~ :)
