Would it be foolish of me to expect Yahoo to do what they guarantee to do - ie deal with an "express submission" within 7 working days, or am I being harsh?

not at all, you pay so you should expect what they say
as a note on that all my submissions to date have been within that time frame

Thanks for that - it's just that with 1 day left and no sign of any visit, I was just wondering.
Who would I complain to anyway???!!!

mmm...... I usually see the signs of a visit in the logs either the same day or within 3 days of submission, did you recieve the standard thankyou email from Yahoo! when you submitted the site? that should contain contact details.......
has your card been charged?

Just to remind
Yahoo takes 7 business days. This may exclude any sundays and saturdays.

Highman where do I go to see that?
highman
19-02-2002, 10:01/10:01AM
go here; http://dir.yahoo.com/new/
select each day in turn and use edit / find or the google toolbar (very good for this sort of thing) to scan through all the new listings for each day

OK Farhan - looked through all new entries in the past week - no joy. Any other ideas?
BTW thanks for the help so far ;)

>how do I use the Google toolbar to make this easier
type the word / words your looking for into the little search box then click on either the 'highlight' button to illminate the word / s or click on the word button itself to go straight to that word. Great help in large docs
As for the Yahoo! thing, guess you gotta wait a while longer then mail them using your reciept details

Don't forget, yesterday was President's Day in the US and a holiday. That wouldn't count as a business day.
If you don't hear from them after 10 business days, reply to the email you got confirming your submission and tell them that you haven't received a reply yet and was wondering whether or not you were accepted. That should get them into gear in case there was some glitch or something.

Check your listing in the 'new' section and make sure your title/description is good

Probably not necessary to mention this but.... remember to keep that welcome email as most likely it's your best means of contacting them should you need to in the future.

I was actually thinking of framing it and making part of my office a kind of Yahoo "shrine" to offer daily worship, light candles, that sort of thing.

LOL
That's too funny as that does fit Yahoo, huh?

Well, just lobbed in at #4 out of 173 for "Proofreading Services" on Yahoo!
They chopped down my desc to "offers proofreading services" from "offers proofreading services to all writers, fully guaranteed for accuracy". Should I leave well alone, since I have a good position, and my desired key-phrase is there; and not annoy the head poo-bah at Yahoo by asking for a change?
I followed Neil Shearing's advice in his book "Yahoo Exposed" - huge shame he has no affiliate program . Mebbe could have made some money by mentioning it here!

Not surprising they chopped that. They don't like that sort of description. Do you offer any other service? Like you could say, resuming editing, or something specific like that. They won't have a problem with a description like this:
Offers proofreading services, editing resumes, article writing, and more.
Might as well get as much in there as you can. But you have to appeal and tell them that the current description doesn't quite depict everything your company is all about. If you do it correctly, they'll have no problem changing it.

Hi Jill
I got them to change the desc to mention
"specializing in e-books, websites, sales and marketing material, and more."
which is better. However, in spite of all pleas to the effect that the word "guarantee" was part of my business name, that I believe I'm the only site who promises a full refund if the client finds a single mistake and so that's what sets us apart, they couldn't bring themselves to use the word in the description!
Pity but there it is
