Whether you agree or not, once I paid for the inclusion for the homepage. Inktomi starts indexing most of my pages. The traffic I'm getting from the MSN is impressive.

Very good! It will work for many sites. You site must be optimized well.

I paid for Inktomi submission a week ago and just observed that my site was updated yesterday, but I'm still not able to find my site on MSN or others. How long does it usually take?

Do you mean find your site in the index, or find your site for searches on your keywords?

Your page will be in the index cause you paid, but paying has nothing to do with any ranks, as it is up to you to optimize the page for ranks.

Once you pay, I do not know how long it takes to get into the index of the Ink partners. I have never paid.

I mean searches on keywords. I am obviously not optimizing my site and must figure out the problem lies.

Well, you are in a very competitive market that would require lots of research.

Have you researched specific keyword phrases? Maybe you could look at getting more targeted on the phrases you are optimizing for? www.wordtracker.com is very good for this type of research.

It's a shame that Inktomi and their partners don't make it very clear that just because you pay to be included in their database, doesn't mean you'll actually be found! And obviously, the average Joe Q. Public has no clue about SEO so they are svcked right in.

Yes. Just doing a quick looksee at her site above, she seems to have the basics down, but I do know they are pushing the "pay to get spidered thing" in a big way.

Really? Ya think? I would say it's not even close, in my opinion!

Well, of course every site out there does not seem to be close to us. :)

But for not being in this business, she is doing good compared with many! I am sure she has been reading the forums. :read:

She should also read www.rankwrite.com as well. :)

Well, I think that's where the problem lies. So many people *think* they know what they're doing, and then are so surprised when they don't rank high! (And this is no offense to bkztx, I'm just speaking generally.)

What's even worse is when they think they know what they're doing because they got this advice from someone who is a supposed expert. Those *experts* usually turn out to be some Web designer who once read an article on SEO! There's just too many people out there running around with a teeny bit of knowledge, which makes them dangerous to the general population as far as I'm concerned! By giving incorrect information, or by not really and truly knowing what they are doing, they give their clients the false hope that they will actually rank high on some keyphrases. When in reality, they don't have a chance. Then of course, they tell the client that it's actually impossible to rank high anyway, so don't worry about it.

Oops...sorry...I went into rant mode there for a minute. Okay, over and out...I really need to do some work today!!!

Where in the heck has Heather been? She does not like us? sheesh, I really like her. :cute:

Okay, Dougie...you are sooooo mean. You knew that mentioning Heather would draw me back in here. Perhaps because you were reading about those Lesbian books on the site above? Why does everyone think that Heather and I are lesbian lovers? And now, my kids will see that site in my cache and they'll never believe me when I tell them it's simply not true. I can hear it now..."Then why were you looking for lesbian books???"

As to why Heather doesn't post here, well, like I said a long time ago, she's not much for posting in forums. Again, it's that time eater mentality. Not to mention that she's not even in town today, but that's besides the point. You'll have to personally email her one of these days and try to coax her here. She'll probably just dirty up the forums again anyway, so you better think carefully about it!

So you guys want to slam us rookies to this stuff, huh? Just joking! But here we are trying our best and believe me this stuff is CONFUSING. I'm trying to teach my high school English III class and read these postings at the same time and jot down notes of things to research. I'm growing more and more impatient and part of me wants to break down and pay one of you experts to do it all for me-- but right now my pride is not allowing me to do that!

I have never said you two were that way? Oh NO. That would spoil things for me. :D

Well, if you won't break down and hire me, then here's the key to your success, free of charge:

At least 250 words of keyphrase-rich text.

Do it right and you'll be ****...but shhhhh....you never heard it from me...

And as to you, Douglas:

I have never said you two were that way? Oh NO. That would spoil things for me
That is why I've oftened wondered why so many men seem to get into watching that sort of thing. What's in it for them? The only conclusion I can draw is that they hope to be able to somehow join in???

Thanks for the tip! And if you ever need any assistance with the lesbian thing, just go to outinprint.com. I know it can be scary and daunting at first. ;)
