Keeping Customers up to date on the status of their order is crucial for an e-commerce site.

In my experience over the years a customer will not cancel an order as long as they know what the status is.

I think communication with the customer is an important part of selling yourself and your business on-line.

E-mail the customer before they e-mail you. I have to admit that I do not always practice this.

I have been e-mailing customers for the last two weeks that if they ordered one of the items that we make they would not receive it by Christmas.

This is an example of the majority of responses I have received.

This will be fine. It is a Christmas present but I will cut the picture
out and wrap it in a box for my mother. I would like to thank you for
informing me so I can still surprise her. I will be expecting it
sometime in January. Once again thank you so much for letting me know.
Keeping the Customer informed will only help your business.

My New Years Resolution is to always contact the customer about a problem before they contact me.

Instant response also justifies your sense of responsibility and customers trust you and customers are the only kings of a running and successful business.........
