Nice forum!

Here's a nice general question:

What have you used other than search engines to drive traffic to your site?

For example, I've known people who list items for auction at e-bay soley for traffic direction. (They've sold a product and produced some traffic. Win/win)

What's worked for you?

Welcome diva!

and thanks!

Good question. For one thing, you can put a signature in your posts with your web site Url....

Just go to your control panel to make one.

Also load up an avatar in your profile that suits you.

Driving traffic..... this is the question that ALL of us strive to do. It is not easy by any means.

Start up an ezine of your own on your site. This could be a good way.

Others in here might be able to give more answers as my main thing is the search engines....

Is attentions even a word? :confused:

Actually Doug, according to MSN Encarta, "attentions" is a word. I keep a Mirriam-Webster on my desk, but it wasn't listed there. I suspected, after a few moments of thought, that it must be a real word, so I went to a larger source and viola, there it was (http://dictionary.msn.com/find/entry.asp?search=attentions).

Well on to the topic at hand.

I'll bet diva is refering to online methods, but, I would also suggest some more traditional means to drive traffic.

Business Cards
Flyers
Postcards
The local Chamber of Commerce
Offline Yellow Pages (this one is a HUGE traffic driver)

All of these (with the exception of the Yellow Pages) can be very inexpensive and all can be very effective.

As to some online methods there are numerous sites that let you create a "business listing" page (or even site) for free. Some examples are Netscape's Netbusiness (http://netbusiness.netscape.com/) ~ Metaccess (http://www.metaccess.com/eng/) and Web-Design-Classifieds (http://www.webdesignclassifieds.com/).

Hope this helps :load: ,

Hello Everybody:

Try to bare with me on this & all true facts. People are E-mailing me wanting to know when I have another E-book ready? The Following info is straight off A New web Site I'm building!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
E-Books one of my Favorites & Most Valued Helpers!
I've started to using E-books to help me provide my future, present & past customers with a reason to keep coming back to my website. Thus using it as a Killer Marketing tool at the same time! I'm finding it one of the best ways to get people to join my E-mail list at one of my websites & a great silent salesman for my website.
For years I tried building up a nice sized E-mail list & nothing seemed to work. Last year I was at a website & noticed they gave you a Free E-Book to download if you subscribe to their mailing list. I subscribed, then Downloaded the E-Book & I was Really Impressed!
This E-Book had a few pages off of their website, some valuable information that was not on their website & advertisings about products they sold. Well it looked like a Great way to get people to subscribe to your E-mail list & a Wonderful way to Help Market your Products or Services T00!
I went from a average of 3 new subscribers a week for a 3 year period to this year of about 20 Plus New Subscribers a week. I think you probably already know that a E-mail list is a Very Valuable Silent Salesman. It's one of the Greatest Ideas I've ever had. As you can see I've Increased my Subscribers by about 700% a week. I build a New E-Book for every Newsletter that I send out, by placing the Download link in the Newsletter for my subscribers only! I'm telling you it has made a big difference in the amount of products I'm selling at one of my websites & in just a matter of time I will have E-Books here too!
What's so Great about all of this is when these people Subscribe to your E-mail list, in most cases they are already sold on you. That's why they subscribed to your E-mail list to start with. Now you've done your Homework & made a very Nice Information E-Book about Your Products & or Services you provide. When your Subscribers receive these Silent Salesman, then they get another look at your Products & or Services you offer. It has really made a difference in my sales & I look forward to making them, because I know I make Money doing it!
As some of you can tell I use Front Page for my Web Page Editor & most E-book programs you can just build the pages just as you are a regular website then place all your web pages & graphics in one folder. There is a little learning curve creating the pages in your Html Editor, it has to be coded a little different, but in no time your off & running. Then you start the E-Book Compiler & point it at the folder. That's it & you're in Business!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Ok I feel better now & Doug just call me a Space Taking Bogart or better yet maybe a BandWidth Hog. I can deal with it! :-)

I'm planning on making plenty more E-books for my web sites!

....where do we get this E-book compiler?

Then you start the E-Book Compiler & point it at the folder.

Is there any other software necessary?

And thanks, DJ5A, for your E-book idea. It sounds like a winner to me! :read: :up:

Hello:

The URL that I enclose below is a good place to start:

http://www.kdhbooks.com/compilers.htm

At the time being I use E-ditor Pro V1.0 & I will upgrade soon. There are plenty out there, every once in a while they have a special on them.

Later on I will be an affiliate for them. If you notice on that page under "E-Book Software" there is a freebie on the right, SBookBuilder, I played around with it, I don't know if it was same version as that but there was a minor problem with it.

BTW, building the book the hardest thing for me was placing all graphics & pages in the same folder & linking to them. I'm a FP2K Sissey & that is not the way FP2K makes pages, but it's easy to get around.

You ever had someone steal your pages that you built, well build the pages & place them in the E-book. Let them try & get them.

I tell ya again, as far as building up a E-mail list, a good silent salesman on & off line, hey if you not in person you colud use it to show off yo work or what ever.

Blue E-mail me & I send you to a E-book Download URL I built for the Green Industry, so you get the idea.

DJ5A from JawJa, Book #ET-4 "Training In Pruning And Planting" you don't show pic of books how do I know if I want to buy, I like lookin' at things? :)

Why not have a listing of landscapers by area? Say could sort by:

city - Woodstock
state - JawJa
:rolleyes:
LOL

Just a thought....my son is in the landscaping business. Small World, just had sprinkler system, new front yard and gardens put in a couple of months back. Just my dumb luck, get sprinkler system, grass starts a growin', then we get more rain than I've seen in my 12 years here....no need for sprinkler, now I don't have to cut the grass landscape crew comes by once a week.
:up:

Serious about book, redesigning back yard now (in fact gotta go work for an hour or so before the afternoon T-showers) and I'm thinking of trees and shurbs to put in next spring. Also, big JawJa winds lately have left some trees dropping limes (sp? those go in the 'rites').

Topdog is the software I use for my reporting for clients. It is the only one I have found that is completely safe so far.

I do not submit with it but do keyword reporting with it.
