I wanted a way to add many more forums without loading up the front page. Only categories are on the front page now. By clicking on one it takes you to each forum under that category.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

Hmmm. Interesting idea Doug, but I must admit on first view, it wasn't clear to me that the forums were now 2 clicks away instead of one. My first thought was that my browser hadn't loaded the page properly. My second thought (after reloading) was that someone had hacked in and deleted most of the forums!
Maybe you should put something like the number of forums next to each link? Or something to indicate that persons will find plenty more forum threads if they click on a particular link?

My first thought was, that my AOL browser had gone poopoo again.....as per usual.
But, then after the caffeine started to kick in, and I was a bit more awake....I realized, Dougie's been playing with his editing tools.....LOL!
The thing I liked best about the "old" forums was the little icon next to the thread to indicate that there were new posts in that thread, so you could locate and read them more easily.
I'm sure that after playing with different setups we'll discover one that works. :)

There is no other way to do the forums if you want to have more forums in here.
Before, we had both the category links and the subforum links on the front page. If you remember none of the category links had a light bulb. They just don't have one as they are a category. Now, the categories are on the front page only. This is the only way to add more forums. There is no other way to play with it. It just is.
Maybe we just need to get use to it? Also, you cannot put a number by a category link unless you put one there for good.
I don't know people. It's either stay with just a few forums and never having anymore, or continue with this way where you can add a gazzillion more forums as you please.
Don't know.
More talk please.

I switched back a little to the original way. But you can see I dropped a couple categories with many forums.
Open for ideas.

Hi Doug,
This is only a suggestion. Something else for you to ponder. :)
Maybe you could have the forums setup the old way for the categories you already had with the URL being:
http://www.ihelpyouservices.com/forums/
And then with the new sets that you want to add, just add another folder in your directory on your server and put them under:
http://www.ihelpyouservices.com/forums2/
Then just add a hyperlink at the top of /forums/ to go to /forums2/ just like you have the donations link up there?
This would allow you more flexibility with keeping the forums targeted to their category/topic as far as your search engine indexing???
Any thoughts?

hey Deb, the software is all set up in the /forums/ folder. It would have to be a completely new setup with the software in another folder as well. No thanks, not this guy. :D
I will just keep tweaking with this to find a good combo.
