Also; here is the press release:

http://www.theopenpress.com/index.php?a=press&id=8048

www.strategic-internet.com

This is the type of shite companies in this industry. Here is a so-called SEO firm.... but wait, are they really a SEO? Turns out they are almost "nothing" at all, but a person who is making like they know something.

Guess what?

They are actually an affiliate of:

http://www.seoinc.com/

ya know; the SEO firm who is touted far and wide by the majority of industry elites out there. Not me or this place.

That's right; we know them as they were penalized awhile ago by Google. Seems to me they qualify for a permanent ban.

Kudos to Google for taking a stand on things. I'm looking forward to the day that Google actually puts the names of "known" SEO spammers on their website. Either that, or puts the names on their site of SEO firms they know to be "white hat".

unbelievable. Goodness gracious... I am absolutely speechless, and that's rare.

also, how old is this copy from their site?:

We will optimize your Web site with a minimum of fifteen (15) keywords and/or keyword phrases on the major search engines including: Google, Yahoo, Altavista, All the Web, AOL (Open Directory), Hotbot, MSN, Ask Jeeves, Iwon, Overture (unpaid listings), Direct Hit, Lycos, Netscape, Xuppa (formerly Bay 9), Kanoodle (unpaid), FindWhat (unpaid), Ah-Ha (supplemental listings, About.com and more.

wow.

I’m trying to give sites a heads-up to stop stuff like hidden text before we really start taking stronger action on it.

Y'all bin warned, ya hear.

Who is that Search Engines Web that posts there?

What a complete pillock. Total asshat.

I really like Adam's response to his latest juvenile rantings. Adam posted:

>> Seriously, do you enjoy making a complete ass out of yourself? Because you do one of the most thorough and complete jobs of it that I’ve ever seen.

Meant to comment on that earlier. Glad I waited. Doug you have provided some additional information that I would never have found.

Search Engines Web
He is a ass who objects to Google banning sites, and publicly outing them as an example.

Can't believe people still - in 2006! - use hidden text that can be seen by simply clicking Ctrl-A! And yet they do... seeing it all the time :D

They seem to have fixed it :( Now, looks like they won't be banned. Pity.

Hmm gotta love that seoinc they make a huge fuss about ebing the only seo w3c member but none of the pages I tested including their main splurge on it was valid. Wonder if the membership was purely for the link?

I'm not aware of anyone touting these guys, Doug, but I'd love to be enlightened. From what I've seen, they're "category 4" all the way. ;) Andrew knows what I mean, even if he didn't understand my point (http://www.seo2seo.com/articles/seo-image.shtml).

It's a blast from the past :p

Haven't seen this one in a while.

I hope that Google does take stronger steps but I hope that spammers don't find ways to hurt ethical sites as a way to get their sites above others.

No suprise though, there is no criteria to meet to obtain that silly logo. I could even place one in this post. It's a pity the w3c logo has NO credence.

They could fix it too, with some type of verification like ssl certs and pci compliance sites (like hackersafe).

I would imagine it isn't that hard to do eithier.

I have seen sites just use those logos, and lots of others, ssl and hacker certs too as just flat images to try to make it look like their site deserved it :|

I wonder why they haven't done something yet though. It comes with being the ONLY authority out there :p You don't have to worry about your name since another company or organization can't take your place.....

Dan; I'm sure I could find that firm being touted at other places by mods and other members. But what I really mean by touted is that if a site takes money for advertising, ..... I call that touting them as well. Ya take their money to advertise their product/service, you sure are touting that firm.

And yes; it's my biggest and really only beef with the major search engines and the PPC stuff. They take money from anyone to advertise. I still call that "touting".
